Drive an Exotic (Living Social Deal) worth it?

Are these sorts of things worth it. I'd love to have a spin in a ferrari, but its a pretty steep price?

Just like to get an opinion from someone who has done something similar and weather or not they found it worthwhile.

For 250 I'd sign up. Seems like the lowest cost of entry I've ever seen.

diirk 09-20-2012 01:20 PM

That's a great deal. I'd definately drop the coin for that.

M-17 09-20-2012 05:11 PM

That is a deal, I'd do it if I was you.

I saw the fine print, wondering if the extra $100 is all i am looking at or more?

You're in San Fran? Find someone in the local Ferrari, Lambo, etc club and see if they want to drive an FRS. You would be surprised how easily some exotic car owners will let someone drive their cars, as long as it's among caring enthusiasts.

3 laps? Doesn't seem worth it.

SUB-FT86 09-20-2012 10:50 PM

My GF was trying to get me to do this since she know I love exotics. I told her I ain't paying $160.00(Groupon pricing) + $40 for insurance.

Re~Mix 09-21-2012 12:48 AM

Yeah, at my company there are plenty of supercars and everybody seems to eyeball the FR-S. Might finagle a swap

Ravenlokk 09-21-2012 12:54 AM

Looks like it'll cost close to double the groupon price. $100 a lap seems like a lot...

Texas BRZ 09-21-2012 02:53 AM

I wouldn't be as motivated to do this, but that's just me... I always make the awkward decisions, I suppose... :D

M-17 09-21-2012 02:51 PM

I retract my previous statement, sicne I didn't even look at the fine print before so its a no go.

My GF bought me the groupon for Imagine Lifestyles event at Gillette Stadium here in Boston. $100 for the groupon + $50 autox insurance plus $30 for a video. A little expensive, but pretty awesome. I've never driven an exotic before, but I got to do 3 laps in a Gallardo Balboni edition, pretty sweet!

There was no rev limit, or any of that other crap I've seen before. Pretty fun if you've got the $ for it!

Also, no one asked me for "Track Insurance" and you do have to sign a waiver and they keep your card on file in case you wreck. It was a legit event. Everyone was nice and no one hassled me for additional costs, etc. It does explicitly states on their website that autox insurance is required. I'm usually skeptical of things like this, but it turned out to be quite fun.
