Mud flaps worth it?
Im getting sick of washing my car and then havin wet roads splash dirt from my wheels everywhere so i was thinking of ordering the OEM mud flaps. Are they effective enough to be worth the $129 though?
P.S. Search doesnt work for crap on my phone so i decided to just ask |
if you don't mind trading dirty for ugly.
|
Toyotpartsoutlet had them for 58.00 but must have sold out.

Personally I don't like them from an appearance point of view. My other consideration is I don't know how they attach to the car. If it requires any drilling in the sheet metal I would be against them just because of exposing raw metal to the exposure of rust developing.

I will probably be selling mine, which I'm taking off when I take the car to get opticoated.
|
Install involves drilling plastic no metal.

Well that answers my unasked question. Lol ill def take dirt over perm. Ugly. Thanks for the heads up guys

I added them to mine, and yes I believe they make a difference. Also, you can get them from various sources for much less than what you have in your post. Also, I don't personally find them ugly, but hey that may just be me. I like them better than the holes in the wheel wells.

I got mine for $60 at my dealership. Like Dadhawk said I prefer them over the holes. You could always paint them to match your car, which i might be doing at a later date.

I love my mudguards. They were my first purchase I got for my car. Ordered it off of Amazon for around $50 and installed them myself. I actually think they look great and complete the look of the car (to a point). To me it looks like it matches the rear diffuser and cleans up some of the cars lines. I've always been a fan of mudguards/flaps and not to mention that they are functional too. I think flaps look ugly on this car though. It does require drilling one hole in each rear wheel, but I haven't done that yet and they've been secure this whole time. They flop a little bit if you were to wiggle them.
This is the best picture I can find of my FR-S with mudguards. The side profile pic I had was too dark to see because of the sun. http://i.imgur.com/1xTma.jpg |
Buy a WRX STi
They're supposed to have mud on them |

Had the Toyota ones added to my BRZ and really like the look of them, especially since they take care of those ugly pre-drilled holes in the rear. To each their own.
