Friends bet on my FR-S/BZR vs AE86

I haven't seen my friends for few months now due to baby sitting issue, but tonight wife and her friends wants to hang out at our house fine by me, so called my friends & we headed out on our old bar hang out. As talk about me still waiting for FR-S or BRZ to come out they started to do another bet, that my mildly tune AE86 cant beat a stock FR-S/BRZ around willow springs big track? I told them we already know that my AE86 was faster than my friends almost stock S2000 around that track, for me I dont really care but I cant wait for that day when my AE86 and FR-S or BRZ will race side by side. So anyone have any predictions who will be faster, a mild tune AE86 or a more modern car FR-S?

Unrelated to your post a little, but how expensive are "Track Days" or track time over there?

Also, I'm inclined to say the new car. For the pure and simple fact it looks like it's been tuned just for that job, what with being sent around the 'ring and all that.

Hmm... tough call. o_O Will depend on the driver of each of those cars. If there were two of you and you were driving both the 86 and the Ft86... it'd be an interesting outcome.

I'm stuck right inbetween so I can't really.. put in my .2¢ unfortunately. :(

Price on track day It all depends on the organizers and track or event like grip or drift, SCCA are the most expensive one as far as i know, TCRA use to join around $130 back then but now maybe little higher, I know extrem speeds events are cheaper.

Well I'll be driving AE86, my brother will drive the FR-S since both have almost same experience on that track it should be equal as driver, back then we use to have almost same time on same car on my AE86.

I just woke up from a dream...

and gettin ready to go to work now.

In this dream, the FRS or BRZ was in it. And somebody in that dream told me that this car when it corners, the chassis will cause the suspension to sink in....to the opposite side. So if you're turning right (as i saw in my dream)...the car will sink towards the front right hand side.

:D

Add hydraulic pumps to the shock absorbers and that's exactly what you get, like in the MP4-12C! :D well that particular car is tuned to stay flat under cornering, but you could make it go more.

But I do want the FR-S to be faster than my AE86 on stock so I can have a bigger expectation when I mod it. but then again the FR-S has a very big shoes to fill

It's way too early to speculate how it will perform on a track. We have no factual information other than dimensions. I would HOPE it would be at least on par with a mildly tuned AE86, very disappointing if it isn't.

what was your 86 spec was it?

its going to be faster than a mildly modded ae86 especially around big willow. your ae86 shoulnt be faster than a stock s2k there either with equally skilled drivers

I really need to extract my old videos and file on my old hard drive but here is what same word my other friend told me on our last friendly bet, he told me a mildly tuned NA AE86 can't beat a mildly tuned RX7 TII on a gymkhana. so I made a NA AE86 gave it same suspensions as my supercharged AE86 but a special engine lol

Then answer is no, stock FRS won't beat your 86

Is that considered a mild tune? But yeah, the FT86 won't keep up with a supercharged AE86.
