are you thinking of linking 2 sets to your car so you can switch out to winter or track wheels? It probably will not work. People tried it on evo X's when they first came out. The ECU only allowed 1 set of TPMS sensors to be linked at 1 time. You might want to call subaru or scion/toyota and see what they say..

this brings up a point... What about the folks in snow country? It's pretty normal to have two sets of wheels/tires. So they must be required to visit the dealer 2x a year, every year? That seems kind of lame of Toyota to do this...

Erm, so what's the problem? You get two sets of wheels and flash the proper ones for the season in ECU. There are tools to do that on your own.

First of all, not sure I understand fully what you're saying. Maybe your spell check is going wacko?

The problem is having 8 TPMSs when only 4 can be programmed at a time by the dealer with their scan tool.

My neighbor who's a tech at Toyota is trying to confirm this for me today. Perhaps there's an option for the owner to reset this w/o having to visit the dealer every time.

Get an ATEQ Quickset TPMS tool. Tirerack used to carry them but I don't see one there atm. Otherwise - $150 new on the web, or get it used - might be cheaper.

Alternatively - get a copy of Toyota Techstream lite software of the interwebz and a compatible adapter off ebay. Should be ~$50.
