probably a coupe version of the next IS which has been on the market since around 2006 and is past due for a makeover.

I wonder if the COG is similar.

If you look at the overall shape, roof-line, and windows of both cars they look very similar.

Yes if it has this motor count me in. I would pay 35k to 42k for it with the 8 speed AT tranny too. I would take it as a NA motor all day. And even as a straight coupe. Let the day dreams begin.

From Motor Trend Unlike other Lexus hybrids, the body design doesn't aim to make explicit the hybrid powertrain or fuel-economy potential. "We used to show the cars were hybrid, but now this is more emotional and sporty," says Lexus Design group manager Takeshi Tanabe. The long nose will also house gasoline engines, which at present consist of a version of the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four (IS 250), 3.5-liter V-6 (IS 350), and the 5.0-liter V-8 in the IS F in the U.S. This would be the first IS hybrid.
Tanabe explains, "In the past, Lexus was about reliability, quality, comfort, and silence. We still have that, but we are adding emotion through the design to attract younger buyers. From now, from the new GS and this CC Concept, we're adding excitement."

In a bid to bring a bit more fun to the Lexus lineup, Toyota's luxury brand will debut a new entry-level luxury coupe in the coming years. Today, we get a first glimpse of what that midsize coupe and other future Lexus models will look like via the Lexus LF-CC. Details about the brand's all-new hybrid powertrain also were released.

The LF-CC is essentially a more practical version of the LF-LC concept. The LF-CC is smaller than the last concept and designed around an actual future Lexus platform that'll be used on midsize entry-level models. In addition, the concept is theoretically powered by a real hybrid powertrain.

The model features an updated interpretation of Lexus's "L-finesse" design aesthetic, which we've seen on the LF-LC and LF-Gh. You really need to look at the headlights up close to see the amount of ornate detail in the forward illumination system. There are three lamps for each headlight and all are housed in independent LED modules. There's no conventional housing cover, which gives the concept a bug-eyed look. I guess it's a great accompaniment for the spindle grille.

Right below the headlights are daytime running lights that seamlessly integrate into the top of the front fenders. Speaking of the spindle grille — a design first worn by the 2013 Lexus GS and then the refreshed 2013 Lexus RX — this one is the most ambitious application yet. As far as we can tell, the front bumper lacks a center reinforcement. Even with lax front bumper regulations, this bumper is probably unacceptable for a production model. Expect it to be tamed down a bit.

The rear taillamp housings resemble webbing and a shark antenna that also doubles as a center rear stop lamp. It's very gnarly. While the front and rear of the LF-CC are unique, the side profile and upper rear-deck smack of Scion FR-S/Toyota GT-86. If Lexus didn't explicitly state that this model was much larger than the Scion, we'd think it was a heavily reworked variant. The derivative side profile is probably just a case of aerodynamics trumping design or maybe Toyota's designers got lazy.

Lexus says the interior features a new aesthetic that will slowly make its way to future models. It'll feature a cacophony of displays, multimedia controls and a driver-oriented cockpit area. No interior photos were provided, however.

The LF-CC features an all-new hybrid powertrain, according to the carmaker. It's a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder with direct injection that was built specifically for hybrid use. The engine is mated to a high-output, water-cooled electric motor.

We'll have more photos and information about the Lexus LF-CC concept once the 2012 Paris Motor Show gets underway later in September.

The FR-S looks to me like it was designed by the same team that designed the $375,000.00 LFA.

I hope they find a way to make it prettier before it makes production!

how much heavier is the isf motor over the frs motor? i imagine it wouldnt be too big a deal. its not like the frs had a good weight balance to begin with. add in the fact that the car overall is gaining weight and maybe even hybrid batteries and i wouldnt be surprised if it has the same if not better weight distribution front to back

Its been confirmed, the LF-CC is a preview of the 2014 Lexus IS and not a Lexus version of the FR-S.

Was comparing the roof line, windows and overall shape. They're very similar on both cars.

I hope they make it look a little better, and make sure that whatever motors they put in it have excellent Yamaha harmonics...

I hope they release a fix hardtop IS-F coupe this time around.

Don't expect this to come with any decent performance for under $40k, i can't stand the "spindle" grille myself.

Sports car shape is sports car shape. It just looks like an IS to me.

I don't mind the spindle grille. I think it transfer better onto the production cars like with the new GS, ES, RX, LX, and LS.

What an ugly car. I'm buying a BRZ because it's one of the few modern good looking and affordable cars out there. Lets get back to stylish and not outlandish cars. That front end looks like a F1 car smashed into a chain-link fence.

Whys there so much hate for hyrbid? Lexus makes the BEST hybrid system in the market with a marked improvement in PERFORMANCE and economy.

I will also guarantee that it wont look ANYTHING like that when its released.

Just looking at the next car up, the GS. The regular petrol model weighs 3800lbs, whereas the hybrid model weighs 4200lbs...

Obviously, the IS version wouldn't add as much, but even 200 lbs is too much to tack onto a performance car. Although, I guess it woun't be much of a performance car...

I'm just pulling numbers from Lexus...

IS250 AT is 3435, IS350 AT is 3527, and ISF is 3780. So, perhaps the Hybrid model would weigh as much as the F-Sport V8 Model (assuming there is one), which I guess is alright... :thumbsup:

They basically put a black (or body colored) bar separating the bottom and top of the grille and you have what the production one looks like!

I see more BMW that FRS in it.

the most exciting part about all of this is the news of a "new" 2.5L I4 with D4-S. there have been talks about a 4 cyl turbo from toyota for some time now, so this may be it.
