New Mexico Ride to the Aspens
With the nights getting colder the aspen trees will start to change color real soon, infact they are starting to show the first bits of Yellow already, with that said I figure it's time to start a thread to form up all the BRZ, FR-S that may want to go on up the hill. There is a lookout you can see the Sandia Crest from right before you get to the Santa Fe Ski basin. We can start out at the Santa Fe Place mall maybe meet by the old Mervyn's.
Either way if were going to go up it'll need to be soon 2-3 weeks, then all the leaves will fall off and it would be like looking a old match sticks. http://stripedpot.com/wp-content/upl...nvistafull.jpg http://goo.gl/maps/rgP30 http://goo.gl/maps/GS9Jm |

Well the weather has fully kicked in, the Aspens are changing fast. If this run is going to happen it needs to happen sooner than not.

Well with Loi changing it to Wednesday, I won't be able to go with the group :(
I am driving up there tomorrow morning though, so if anyone reads this in time please suggest a route! I'm figuring (from ABQ) 550 to 4 up to los Alamos, then over to the ski basin, somehow. Would love a little bit more direction if you've got it! |
BTW, that is the perfect color for that picture !

Man this makes me jealous, for the first time I regret growing up and living in Texas. Hope you guys take some photos and maybe even a GoPro video.

Don't know if you guys went up on that Wednesday as Loi planned but let me tell you, my ride up there was AWESOME. Of course the scenery was great; mountains, aspens in full fall colors, wide open valleys...but what made it extra cool was what we happened across along the way. The Santa fe concorso cruise! As we were coming up on the elk viewing valley (with BTW, 2 other adults in the car on a >4 hr drive; comfortable I might add) I saw all of these cars in the side of the road, so I pulled over when I noticed the Ferrari and lotus--that was the tip of the iceburg! There was a full line of all of these exotics, everything from an Ariel atom to a bently.
We saw the tail end of the stop, so I missed most of the Ferrari's as I was gawking over the Morgan 3 wheeler. The craziest thing was the "event staff" guy came over to my FRS and starts taking pictures!!! It was hilarious. I told him, oh no, I'm just driving by, but he stopped to talk about the car for a while too. We got back in, and I got to drive behind the Ariel atom and the Morgan for a long while, watching people take pictures around the corner...I felt like a million bucks. When we stopped to get gas, two guys got out of a 911 and started looking at the car then asking questions about it, and said they really liked it. The whole experience was just hilarious/awesome! |
