Genuine Toyota Footwell Light - need help translating Japanese.

7 Attachment(s)
I've got the genuine footwell illumination lights installed myself. But i need to troubleshoot why it's not turning on.

I've taken photos of it with my phone, since there are no soft copies on the internet.

Is there anyone in this forum know how to read Japanese and can help me translate this troubleshoot booklet (i think it's a troubleshoot booklet according to the flowcharts).

Thanks heaps!

How is the kit installed?

The kit for the Foz/Impreza consists of disconnecting the console harnesss, connecting a jumper harness and connecting the two lights. Pretty straightforward.

I don't have access to the 2013MY accy install guides yet.

well according to the instructions...................

I have no idea.

Wow, this is a lot of stuff man. I could probably give it a crack if you're really stuck. I'm not Japanese, but have studied it for about 9 years.

pretty much the same deal, the instructions mostly big pictures on a separate booklet.
  1. take the covers off
  2. strap the cables down with cable ties
  3. plug 15pin male to reserved 15 slots female wire connector (reserved from factory).
  4. pop 2 holes for driver side and ON/OFF switch.
  5. 1 hole for passenger side.
  6. feed and snap LED bulb and switch into hole and lock.
  7. put covers back on.
  8. reconnect battery - should work when dome lights are on or door is open.
not sure if that made sense.

Now it's not turning on. I'm assuming it's missing a fuse or i did something wrong.

So what I've posted above is a troubleshoot guide, not the manual.

I'm half Chinese and when translated it means something completely different. LOL!

yeah I'm rattaling my brains to know why my lights aren't on.
Sorry for posting loads of stuff, Most important are the flow charts (last 2 pages). If you can, no pressure :D

Much appreciated if you can help out! Cheers!

fyi

not sure about the FR-S, but for the Toyota 86 GTS and GT.

If you look under the driver's side behind all the wires you'll see a thick black cable with a big white female 15 pin connector tide up with blue electrical tape located near the hole they feed the cables through the engine bay.

I could only make out the 1st 2 steps:

1) Is the lamp switch on? If not, turn it on.
2) Is the illumination switch on? If not, turn it on.

Probably not much, but my Japanese skills are pretty rough...

I'm at work at the moment, but the next part is do you feel (the sensation) of light? I guess they mean, is the lamp on :P

I know that's absolutely useless to you, but I'll have a look when I get home. Will need to bust out the kanji dictionary :)

I'll try, I've got it installed already, i remember taking a few pics with my DSLR, not sure if the photos would do any justice, since i took the photos with all the wrappings still on it.

I'll post them when after work dude! ;)

Probably not much, but my Japanese skills are pretty rough...

before that it says: Room lamp switch on door? close all doors. After light is extinguished, please wait 8-9 seconds.

After this it's pretty much:

"No light in the light/lamp section"

"you think a circuit failure seems to appear"

"please contact the sales/marketing store for discussion"

"one portion of the lamp section has no light" - "Lamp appears to be bad"

"Lamp (assy??) because an exchange is necessary, please take to the sales store.

That's just the last page (and a depressingly pathetic translation by me :() I'll check what the others say.

edit: the page before is basically the same set of instructions, but the initital question has changed. Asks you to close all the doors, but leave the drivers door open. Is there light? If not, it shows you through the same flowchart as before.

edit: Is there no light coming on at all? Might be worth me starting from the beginning of the manual, rather than working backwards :P
