^ I was thinkin the same thing.

I need to get out in my FR-S, its also my first true RWD car lol.

OmarGC 09-16-2012 04:43 AM

this is my 1st rwd car......... that's underpowered.

Im_SPEED 09-16-2012 09:09 AM

It wasnt so bad the car sits so far off the ground i knew i wouldnt hurt anything. I have went off around the same place side ways in the celica and popped the beads off the tires so this was nothing.

This will probably be me the first couple times I track/autox mine lol. I am used to driving a 508 whp evo X so this is a pretty big change for me. Looks like a pretty fun autox course as well all the ones around my area are super tight.

was gonna say you could improve on your lines... but then I watched your second video... big improvement in that.

When you started to lose it and go off track in your first video, did you try to save/correct it and ride it out? Also curious if you know how fast you were going right before?

SeattleJeremy 09-17-2012 05:24 PM

I thought an off like that would require you to stop the run, and re-do the tech inspection. Why did you keep going?

no we dont have to re-tech it was a DNF but it was my first so i wanted to try to see the rest of the course at speed. people get kinda pissy if you drag dirt back on the track thats why i stayed off to the side of a few feet to make sure all the dirt was gone.

I honesty just road it out i knew i couldnt save it. i dont know how fast i was going i miss the sun roof in my celica for that reason only because i could mount the gopro upside down and see my hands, speedo, tac, and the track

First off, what rubber are you on?

The next thing I'd say is that you were going through a transition that was off-camber to on-camber. That can be a jolt to your suspension geometry that most stock cars don't handle quite well. Do you remember how smooth your input was? If it was quick, that could have unsettled the car resulting in the "FEED ME CORNER WORKERS" slide of death.

Im_SPEED 09-18-2012 01:38 AM

Running R1r in 245/40/17 yayaya i know the car is to heavy for those tire but i figure would try. And honestly i feel that was the cause of my slide is because i was to jearky with my inputs.. i could get away with the in my FWD. After that run i smothed my inputs and never spun again.

Propaganda 09-18-2012 03:23 PM

Smooth might look/feel slow, but it can be a hell of a lot faster

Also, not sure how it is in your region, but we have a low tolerance for drifting (not saying you did) and have guidelines for spinounts. If you ever start to spin (beyond normal oversteer); don't try to ride it out or save it, just put both feet on the clutch and brake (or brake if its an auto). It works wonders and stops you decently quick without prolonging a slide/loss of control. Where you went off and were headed in the direction of a person going at least 25mph, that would be a big "no no" in my region and you probably wouldn't be allowed to run the rest of the day.

It's worked for me and others I know. It just prevents countersteer + countersteer + further loss of control. Just something to be mindful of

I'm curious were your running with traction and stab off?
