dealership issues....

Does anybody ever have a positive experience at a dealership?

Okay here's my issue - scheduled an oil change for my car at my local toyota shop. I went there and told them I wanted to complimentary service under the scion boost program. They said my car wasn't due for an oil change until 7500 miles (I was at 6100). I said Toyota placed a sticker on my windshield to come get my first service at 5k so here I am, and they were okay with it. Left my car there and walked around for 45 mins and got a call from them, "Hey we don't have the parts for your car." So I asked what do you mean, all I want is an oil change... "we don't have the oil filter yet 'cause your car is so new." @#%#$@@#$%@

Long story short the assistant manager made some calls and suggested another center where they supposedly had better "technicians, inventory, equipment, service, etc" and said that his boy there will take care of me.

I dropped my car off at this other shop, told them about the complimentary oil change, condensation in the tail lights, and the chirping noise coming from the engine. I left my car overnight and they told me they'll change the oil, and check out the engine light but will have to wait for the new tail lights to arrive to swap them out. I said sure, at least we can change the oil now and address the engine sound.

I arrive the next day and they said car is ready to go and didn't have anything else to say to me. So I popped the hood and noticed a K&N filter in there (my og filter)... "you guys didn't do an oil change?" "your car's not due for an oil change until the second interval"

I was like wtf... at 15k? "yea". I was like no way, the brochure for the boost program says to change it at 7500 miles! He looked perplexed asked me if I had it.. I was like 'No man, it's common knowledge and all over the web."

He didn't make a big deal out of it but said we'll take care of it when you come in again for the taillights, so I said fine... then what about the engine noise? "that's a nuance but it's due to this specific engine being so unique, but it's normal." I reallly didn't know how to respond to that...

So I left and just gonna go back in for my oil change and taillight. replacement. I can't even tell if my tires were rotated because I forgot to mark them beforehand.

I just can't believe they didn't change the oil, or address the engine noise, and just told me my car can go...:bs: This is why I hate bringing my cars into shops.

This is why I do everything myself, I don't trust shops. It sucks but in the end it usually turns out to be less of a hassle even if the service is suppose to be free.

I hope when you do go for your taillight everything works out.

I gave up on my scion/toyota dealer. Bunch of clowns working there, I have better things to do than deal with all those jackasses. I'm a one and done with toyota/scion, NEVER AGAIN

I went to my dealer last weekend for my oil change and I was at 5100 miles. They told me they don't do oil changes until 7500.. so I said the same thing; dealer told me that you do it every 5000 miles. To which he said no, but said I could still get it done if I wanted. I ended up just leaving (though after I left I kind of felt like I should have had it done). Oh well.

seriously... I worry that they'll add non-synthetic oil when I do an oil change... for the taillight fix... they'll take out the old ones, wipe out the moister and put it back in.

my experience with dealer is shady. when i purchase my car the sales rep tried to let me sign the extend warranty without asking me if i want it or not. the first oil change they took more than an hour and the odo added 100 kms. ill never go to the dealer anymore

100 kms?!?! for an oil change? I would have gone ballistic! They obviously took your car for a joy ride.

100km or 10km??? they added 3 miles to my odo... not sure how but I wasn't surprised. I told them the engine idle chirping noise comes after the cars been driven and warmed up so maybe they were testing it.... but than again - driving 3 miles in NYC can get them into another borough already so who knows...

ALl I want is to save 60-70 bucks and get a free oil change :sigh:

so... essentially all they did was look at your car and left it in the garage overnight?

What dealership if you dont mind me asking?

I had .1 mile added from my oil change, sucks that this dealer isn't in NY though. I think the best way to make sure your car isn't messed with is just wait there for the oil change.

this is true! i watch 'em like a hawk, especially if i am getting a tire rotation too!

Damn, I feel like a real dummy mentioning this but I think I need some opinions. I brought my car in a couple weeks ago [to the dealership] to have wheels/tires/clear bra installed, windows tinted, etc. Initial mileage = 650. At pick-up, mileage = ~680. I can't remember what I was thinking at the time; I should've been pissed off, right??

A few days later, my boyfriend noticed some streaks on the inside of the doors so I went in to see if they'd clean it up. Turns out the service department was closed (it was Labor Day) and I needed to make an appointment to have the car detailed. Two weeks, 3 messages, and no call-backs later, I still have the streaks inside my car and less motivation to bring my car to that dealership for servicing.

I'm not terribly concerned about getting it detailed... That's an easy fix. What I'm wondering is: what should I expect from them, if anything, if I complain that they added 30 miles to my car?

Another lesson learned the hard way, I suppose.....

what do you mean by streaks inside the car? 30 miles is a lot, you might have to bring it up with corporate, not really sure what your complaint is gonna get at the dealership since they are already a-holes.

If you still have any work left for your car, I highly recommend getting someone outside of the dealership to do it. At BEST, they offer mediocre worksmanship and quality for ridiculous prices.

I usually try to stay away from dealerships, but had no idea how much of an oil change and taillight swap could be such a headache.
