BRZ next to 240Z

Just wanted to share some pics of my BRZ next to someone's tastefully modified Z (looks like a 240, but I don't really know much about these cars). Just so happen to pull up next to it at my work's complex. I love how both have the classic sports car proportions but have their own distinct styles.

Very nice! That 240Z is a nice color! (yes, it's an early 240Z; you can tell by the taillights and the vertical window defroster lines) Wonder where his bumpers are... 240Z's have nice skinny bumpers, the 260/280Z got those ugly 5mph diving board bumpers.

Very nice. Someone at your work place has good taste. Now to track down that person.

I am a early Z car owner, and I love the FR-S/BRZ because I believe that the two cars share the same roots. I almost feel like this is what the new Z should have been (370Z, ugh), only with a 6 cyl. If I were to replace one of my cars, not the Z car, the FR-S/BRZ will definitely be in the running.

Couldn't agree more. Even though I'm a subie head, I was a big fan of the datsuns (my dad had a 510) and the Z's. Not too crazy about the 370, but pretty impressed with the synchro-rev match (because I suck at it )

Great to hear someone agrees. Have you driven a early Z car before? I, myself, have yet to drive a FR-S or BRZ, so I am very curious for a comparison. Not so much a comparison on power (even though they are relatively close), but more on overall driver feel. I know the Z will definitely be a lot more raw, being 40 years old and all.

I totally agree. I restored a '77 280Z a few years back and had been looking for something more modern that was similar. My BRZ is the closest thing I've driven to the 1st gen Z cars.

Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing.

I'm more of a Supra guy, as I have grown up with an MKII (my mother used to have one when I was a kid) so I was always more attached to the Supras (I've got my 4th MKII by now) than to the Z's.
However, I love the looks and the spirit of the old 240/260Z. Also one of the reasons I've bought a 350z 5 years ago,but I just feel that from the ZX area onwards the spirit of the "old Z" got lost.

During the first test drive with the GT86 I had the same feeling like in my Supra, hard to explain in facts, however it just feelt right, like you could feel the spirit of an "honest" sports car. Not one that blends you with power and exotic crap, but one that is pure fun, and especially one you will not care if there will be a newer "better" model out next year, as you will love your's for the sake of its just what you need, and anything else is just bling you dont need nor want

Sorry, got a bit off topic there :-)
