OEM wheels - How do they color them?

Hello,

I was wondering about a couple things with the OEM wheels...

1) How are they colored? As in are they painted? Powder coated? etc.

2) What material are they? I would assume they're not aluminum.

3) What happens if you get paint thinner on them? Would that strip off the clear and color to just the bare metal?

Reason I'm asking is my friend has a FR-S and since he is on new wheels, we figure we could try to polish them or something.

Guessing here.
1. Painted. Shiny parts machined. Whole thing cleared.
2. Aluminum.
3. Can't say exactly, but I'd guess it'd start to eat at the finish. Most of the people I know that wanted to strip their wheels used aircraft remover.
