Congratulations! You have to be top 10 for making it the most miles until CEL. Doesn't exactly give me confidence (1100 miles here - no CEL).

Thanks... I think.

Yeah, I was just checking out the CEL issue list the other day to see who had the most miles before a CEL. I was feeling pretty secure since I was about 2k over the next person.

Why would you clear the code and not have the issue diagnosed?

Well, I have a few upgrades to my car that might not be Warranty friendly. I was also late for work, and didn't have time. I did get Autozone to print a reciept with proof of the CEL for later

prob the turbo

No turbo for me, yet...

So now that I'm home and at my computer here's the whole story.

I was running a few errands today, and managing with the usual moderate late afternoon city traffic. I had just noticed over the last few days that my cars Idle Dip was a little more severe than normal, so I was actually watching it at every stoplight that was longer than 30 seconds.

As I stated earlier, I was one of the first few to report the Idle dip, and even had a few missfires early on, but I've never thrown a CEL prior to this.

Today it wasn't dipping as much as it was a rough shudder. The car FELT like it was dipping, however, the needle wasn't bouncing. That's when the CEL and SL came on.

This caused me to scream one very loud F-Bomb, and make a call to secure an Ecutek cable incase I needed an immedeiate flash to stock.

3 blocks later I pulled over (running an errand), and when I came back out and started my car up the SL was gone, but the CEL was still there. I headed straight for the closest Autozone to get the code read, and was praying it wasn't the magic P0015-P0018.

Durring the drive I noticed that even though TC was on, it didn't kick on as quickly, and it wasn't as effective in keeping the car in line as it was before. It also wasn't running as smoothly. I wonder if that was due to the "limp mode". Someone else had reported a similar problem a few days ago when their CEL was thrown.

As you can see, in the photo of the reciept, the error code was P0011, not the other cam code, but still related to the cams, so I'm not completely at ease.

I drove in to work (17miles), and parked. After work I grabbed their toolkit and went to go pull the battery terminals to reset the CEL, and see if it came back... But when I turned my car on, it was gone. I still reset the battery as a precaution, Let it idle for 5 minutes to get the rev idle down from 1500, to 700, and took it for a soft drive, before working through the RPM range.

The CEL is still off, the car is running smoothly now, and the TC is back to what it should be. I will give it a few days, and then flash it back to stock, and take my crank pulley off, before taking it in to a dealer to check out. I will be using a different dealer than the one that got my car stuck for 6 days the last time.

Well F@#k me runnin.
I have a feeling this is in my future too. I've been experiencing some odd idle behavior and even rough idle at times; it usually happens when I'm not paying attention and catches me by surprise. I'm often saying to myself "WTF just happened?"

Dammit! I feel for you...

Damn, I guess nobody is safe from the CEL/SL issue. Hope yours was just an intermittent fault and wont bother you again!

I'm at 1900 and it's starting to worry me.. If I get this cel I'm debating if I should take off my exhaust/Midpipe and switch it to stock when I go to the dealers..

You can leave the new exhaust on. They wont even notice it, and if they did, it won't void your warranty.

Is it safe to say that the ECU is causing all this? If so, Subaru/Toyota should be able to reflash it some time soon right?...

I got that from autozone actually. They will scan you for free, and then give a printout. It's a great sales tool for them because they can sell you repair parts all in one swoop.

I doubt there will ever be a recall for this issue as it's not a safety concern. Recalls are rarely issued for a mechanical problem. There will be a TSB issued and effected cars will be repaired. That's my $.02

I'm at 7400 and still no CEL...hehe...I guess keeping it blown out does help!
