1/28 and 1/43 scale RC Versions of Toyota 86 Coming Soon
 

Kyosho will be releasing both a 1/28 scale RC car and a 1/43 scale RC car/slot car in the coming months. The 1/28 scale RC car is on their "Mini-z" platform. The 1/43 scale on their Dnano/Dslot platform.

That's the Tamiya 1/10 scale. HPI is also making one as an Scion FR-S but the Tamiya body detail is usually better.

I like Tamiya stuff...very detailed.

how easy is it to paint those kits? Especially if you have no prior experience?

apparently the kyosho mini-z (1/28 scale r/c model) is going to be right around $200, and that's excluding the transmitter (another $60). Kyosho makes some great stuff and the MR-03 is supposedly the best chassis they have in the rwd mini-z line, but $260 for a 1/28 seems too high.

i am super tempted to do a Tamiya 86. id love to get one and wire up real lights and all that as well.

I knew they would make one! I collect Mini Zs and yeas they are expensive but totally worth it.

These days it's pretty easy as long as you take your time. Most of the 1/10 scale bodies are made out of lexan and come with masks for the windows and light buckets. Just do a quick wash of the body with soap and water to get any oil from your hands off. Add the masks. Then spray the body from the inside through multiple coats of lexan paint(flexible). There's usually an overspray film pre-applied which you remove after your finished painting which leaves things looking like a beautiful clear coat on the outside. Add the decals and your done.

Those are for the cars and chassis which I agree is very expensive. You can use your own radio if you have one that's compatible(or has the right module).

The 1/10 scale tamiya is quite a bit larger and cheaper strangely enough. But being a huge collector of the Mini-z myself, these bodies are most definitely of the highest quality model grade and can be quite collectible. You can buy the bodies finished usually for about $50.

im far from a really good painter on these but i have done a few and one thing i learned real fast. get the liquid tape and use that for your masking if you are doing elabrate designs. when using the tape(even the specialty stuff) its hard to get it to stay down with some of the creases. i always had it run in the corner here or there... or my line bleed a little. The cool thing about the liquid tape is you just cover it all then cut out the design you want.

yeah I'm fan of tamiya and kyosho. I already have a tt-01e so I might buy the 86 body from tamiya. I think it would be cool to take a tamiya 1/24 gt86 kit and throw some r/c electronics in it though lol.

Gimme a Maisto 1:18 scale model nd I'll be alright lol

i'd be down for a 1/16 if i could get one with a brushless motor. bonus points if it were rwd.
