3M clear bra cost?

Hi, can you chime in what is a fair cost for a clear bra with this coverage:
- front bumper
- 1/3 hood
- mirorrs
- partial fenders
- rockers

I got quoted $750 and it seems a bit high but I donn't kniw what's fair.

Thanks
G

yes! this is of interest to me as well! am considering
either "clear bra" or the liquid "sealant" to protect paint!
thanks!

gxgn 09-13-2012 10:24 PM

What kind of liquid sealent do you know? An idea if it would work over opticoat? I already had my car opticoated.

yeah! i meant "opticoat",i couldn't remember the name of the stuff!
my bad! how do you like this stuff? expensive?..thanks!

gxgn 09-13-2012 11:32 PM

I likemthe opticoat but it wasn't too cheap to get it applied. The prparation of the car is the hard part. The application is easy
However, you need both the opticoat and the clear bra, opticoat is not enough for rocks

It's $600 here in San Diego.

Against rock chips?? NO!

Plus subaru paint is paper thin..

VietnamPhenom 09-14-2012 01:59 AM

I got a clear mask for free from my dealer. Its only the front part of the hood, fender, and side mirrors.

SkAsphalt 09-14-2012 02:42 AM

I was just quoted 529 CDN to do a film on my hood, fender and side mirrors. I guess it also comes with door handle cups and door edges. but really. I don't feel like getting the dealer to do this.

That would be cheap here. I was quoted over $800 for that here.

No. Got a rock chip on top of my left fender 2 weeks after delivery. It's the reason I'm having the car opti-guarded. (Opti-guard is harder than opti-coat. Business version vs. consumer version)

Khyron686 09-14-2012 01:37 PM

I paid a touch over 1000 but wanted full hood (no line!) and it's Xpel self healing instead of 3M which is about 25% more expensive. But you can youtube the demo if you want.

firestorm 09-16-2012 12:38 AM

Those prices are crazy!I did my hood and fenders for $80.00 bucks. If you're in Colorado or near by hit me up I will hook you up!You need to work those those guys on prices!Must Dealers pay $50.00 to a $100 to have it done.

I recently purchased the 3M Paint Protection Film kit that includes the half hood, fenders, whole bumper, and mirrors. I used the half hood piece but changed my bumper and fenders thereby not allowing me to utilize the other pieces. The Fenders, bumper, and mirrors are all brand new untouched in the original packaging. I will sell domestically for $350 including the squeegee and spray bottles. Certified check or money order only. Again, this is genuine 3M film. PM me if interested.

Opti Guard won't prevent rock chips either. The ONLY thing that will prevent rock chips is a clear bra.

FR-S,M.D. 09-27-2012 12:13 AM

Paid $1250 for full hood, full bumper, full fenders, headlights and trunk strip.

Oh I'm fully aware, but it does become more resistant to them.

Jayde 09-27-2012 11:13 AM

Getting full hood, fenders, bumper, lights, mirrors, rocker panels, door cups, top of rear bumper, a-pillers, and half roof in Xpel Ultimate for ~1500 including labor. Not bad for how much I'm getting down, imo.

Not from my experience.

Well, if the point of the coating is to offer easier washing and some scratch resistance, then I would believe inherently it would also resist rock chips a bit more as well.

Think about how hard a rock is vs. how hard bugs and dust are (in general). Also think about the forces involved when a rock collides with your car vs. when smaller, lighter objects (like dust particles) do. I don't have to speculate; I've owned my car before and after having it Opti-Guarded, and while Opti-Guard is a wonderful product, it does not provide protection against rock chips.

Well, in all honesty the ease of washing made it a good enough investment for me. If it prevents any scratches it's a bonus.
