This might sound weird
In all my cars when I fill up the gas tank I usually have to push the fuel spout against a little metal flap and then let it rest in the feed line.
Do our cars have that little flap? Because the last time I filled up I didn't see one there and I'm afraid I might've pushed it in too hard. |
Lol
I'm not laughing at you. I'm just remembering the first time I fueled up my BRZ and had the same experience you did. There's nothing wrong with your BRZ  Quote:

No flap. Thought it was odd myself. But I guess they feel the flap is redundant with today's sealed gas caps.
|
Flaps left Integras in 1998 or 1999 IIRC. None of my recent cars have had flaps, but some crappy rentals have.
Ford doesn't even use a gas cap anymore, at least not on the F150s, not sure about the rest of their line. |
Yeah my mustang has no cap. Wife went to fill it up when we were bringing it home, wish I'd had the camera when she popped the fuel door! :)
|
Why no gas cap/flap? BECAUSE RACE CAR.
|
So this is why a loose gas cap will throw a CEL? If I had to choose, I would go with the flap.
|
lol, i haven't had a different car till this year, i thought the "no flap" was a subaru quirk.
