Most people pop off the shifter, and do that "tightening" with a zip tie under the shift boot. Just a tip. I believe Raceeng does this to ensure the stretching doesn't make the boot loose.

How do you know what gear you're on when you no longer have the shift pattern on the knob? I would be so confused.

When I first learned manual, I had to move the car without touching the gas (finding the catch point) and memorizing all positions of the shifter. I grew up wanting a manual so I also fake-practice on a soda bottle

Really? I never look at the knob. How do you drive in the dark?

Pretty sure it's a 3/10 troll effort. If not, really sorry Ketchup. That's like asking how to know how to climb stairs without looking at the steps you're actually on.

i had this one installed for a year.

i started thinking about changing it when my dad tried moving the car once and spent 30 minutes trying to get it to go in reverse.

what i gained in anti-theft, i lost in clutch wear!

Ok wait... I am the most clumsiest person I know. I do look at the stairs.

LOL. Idk, I just learned how to drive manual about a month ago and I've never had an issues with knowing where the gears are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Bumping a couple months...

Any suggestions on a shift knob smaller than stock (MT)?

Small as in grip. Lol.

Thanks in advance

I rock a Raceseng Apex R - it's smaller than the stock knob and feels great. Just watch out when it's wicked hot or wicked cold out...

Why stop at the grip? Ever consider a stubby shifter? I thought Boomba Racing made short throw/stubby shifters for the 86.

At least you're not asking about giant shift knobs. All I can think about is the excessive leverage being put on the transmission.

I didn’t like a lot of the designs so I decided to make one. Solid brass turned on a lathe, laser engraved and cerakoted.
