I just sent them an inquire on one of the car. I will repost when they respond.

Find out what options are on them, they probably don't have any bare bones

Don't fall for it, I responded to the ad and got quoted MSRP. Bait-and-switch (and plenty of spam).

"Internet price"

Iixii 09-12-2012 10:59 AM

Internet price is with active military and recent graduate discounts combined. The internet sales guy called me.

Another stealership deceptive sales tactic.

Iixii 09-12-2012 11:14 AM

The sales guy called me again saying he will waive the freight charge of $750 because I'm in their database of previous buyer but I told him I'm not but, he says I'm in there so he will still give me that 'discount'.

It's not legal. It only would be if they had that particular FR-S in stock, but then switched it over to a different FR-S and sold it for $2k more. Blatantly lying about the price is not legal, especially when it includes conditional rebates that are not mentioned anywhere on that page.

But it looks like they moved all the prices up $2000.

Are you guys lawyers? I don't see anything illegal. In any marketing there is always fine print. There is a tab for details.

Their fine print is as follows:
* While every reasonable effort is made to ensure the accuracy of this data, we are not responsible for any errors or omissions contained on these pages. ALL INTERNET PRICES INCLUDES ALL APPLICABLE INCENTIVES, EXCLUDES TAXES, TAGS, FREIGHT, AND PROCESSS FEE. Please verify any information in question with a dealership sales representative.

This is kind of rare.

Most dealer just bump up the price, I saw some tagged with 30K+

jskurucz 09-12-2012 05:39 PM

Complete opposite of the $36,000 BRZ a dealership has listed.

Maybe not illegal, but always shady. Marketing makes a mint on deceiving people.

I have had salesmen/dealerships attempt this tactic on me and other folks several times over the years. A Subaru dealer once claimed they had a new WRX on their lot for 21k. I asked the guy over the phone, "Is this the price?" "Yes sir!". Arrived on the lot, "Is that really the price?" "yes sir!" After the test drive, I go into his office. He tells me, "Oh, uh, there's been a mistake. It's 27k." I tell him that I'm no longer interested, he goes and gets his sales manager to try and intimidate me. I said, "If this car was 21k, It's a bargain. At 27, it simply isn't." I left it at that.

Also had this happen when my dad was shopping for a used Corvette several years back.

Then, when my brother went shopping for a VW Golf R, they tried to jack the price above an advertised price. He waited for them to deliver it from another dealership. I cold called and got the OTD price on another Golf R on the lot for the advertised price. When he went back to the dealership, he handed them that price, they called me, I stuck to my guns, he got the deal. They said, "We'll make it up on the next sale."

Don't hate the playas, hate the game, and NEVER be afraid to walk away.
