Brz Drag Setup

For those who are interested in making these into 1/4 mile cars(Yes they are out there) What is the widest tire you can fit in the back of these things? Will 315's fit? 305's?

JoeBoxer 09-11-2012 10:56 PM

Probably as wide as you want if you don't mind it sticking out the fenderwells or are you talking about inside the fenders?

Zaggeron 09-11-2012 10:59 PM

Wider past the point where the grip exceeds the torque doesn't help. Find out what sort of HP/Torque you plan to get out of it and select your tires appropriately.

Id like it to be as flush as possible.

Tansey86 09-11-2012 11:01 PM

Well I haven't seen anyone go past 255's and you're gonna need more than that if you turbo this car and run upwards of 450rwhp.

Zaggeron 09-11-2012 11:11 PM

I find 450 hard to believe out of this engine -- though I guess you could get it ... once or twice :) I probably wouldn't be that surprised to find out I'm wrong though ... In any event, you are not getting that at launch RPMs I presume and wider is not always better for drag racing

Tansey86 09-11-2012 11:14 PM

This car has already made 460rwhp+ lol. Has been for a few weeks now. DD'd

JoeBoxer 09-11-2012 11:14 PM

I'm not 100% sure but i think you could probably get a 275/40R17 Nitto or BFG Drag Radial back there as long as its not lowered very much. I don't know if its neccessary though because those power numbers are so high in the powerband.

Probably a little early to assume that 460whp is reliable for a DD...then again everyone's idea of what constitutes a DD is probably different...

I didn't mean it was reliable, was just saying that the power was made. I have a feeling that engines a time bomb at the moment. I've been pleasantly surprised with this motor though.

Widest ive seen on a stock body is 275.

Calling something a "daily driver" usually means it's reliable and livable on a day-to-day basis...

Well up to now it has been. Sorry I guess I should have said its made that power but its reliability is still questionable.
