Automatic transmission selector details?
 

I was wondering if anyone has any of the following details:

• Part# to the Automatic Trannmission Selector
• A wiring diagram to the harness which connects to it
• Pictures of the connector harness or the pins under the selector itself

My car is currently in the shop with the VVT CEL issue. While I don't have access to it, I wanted to start working on a process to reverse the (+) with the (-) when the selector is set to manual.

Just reverse the two wires. I have it done on ours works great!

Is it literally THIS simple? ;take off shift boot, pop off selector with a screw driver, reverse the wires is connected to the (+) switch and the other to the (-)?

...or is there a harness I'm cutting into?

Yes its pretty simple! Once you take off the trim piece there will be 2 black wires and two white wires going to the little momentary switches. just reverse them. Or if you want take the actual shifter apart and reverse the momentary switch location. Be careful taking apart the shifter though a little pin will fall out and its hard to put back in.

Where is the location of the pin that you have to watch out for that might pop out?

Do you want to reverse the paddles? Or are you trying to reverse the (not sure if the auto's have one) slap-stick?

I thought the right-paddle-up, left-paddle-down was pretty intuitive?

We're looking to reverse the stick, not the paddles.

I am interested in doing this as I feel the alternative setup is more intuitive.

My question, does anyone know if it is possible to swap the actual + and - symbols? I'd imagine they are fairly permanently fixed, but it would be nice to have them match the altered transmission.

The labels are in the plastic. The easiest way is to get two stickers and cover them up, but with a little more effort you could do something more permanent.

Help with switching the wires!
 

I am trying to figure out how to re-wire the black/white wires leading to the contacts on the momentary switches. I removed the shift boot trim and was trying to figure out exactly how to gain access to the momentary switches so that I can pull out the wires and switch them around. Has anybody done the re-wiring and switched the wires? How do you remove the white plastic housing that is covering the momentary switches? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The two black wires run to a plug at the front of the shifter that can pop up with a screwdriver but cant get it out of that area and don't want to pull on the wires.http://fast16v.com/wires2.jpghttp://fast16v.com/wires.jpg

Thanks for the tip. It looks like I have to remove the center console in order to be able to access the plugs for the black wires. I was thinking that I would only have to remove the shift lever cover trim. I couldn't see the plugs for the wires with just the shift lever cover trim removed. I guess I'll be able to see the wire plugs once I remove the center console.
