toyota/scion service question

I'm trying to book an oil change with a dealership this weekend. This is gonna be the first time I've ever done an oil change at any dealership 'since i always go to local mechanics.

Are they ever punctual and start/finish as scheduled or can i expect to get out 3 hours later for an oil change? Also is there anything sneaky I might have to watch out for - i heard some ppl posting about the car coming back with and extra couple of miles on the odometer when getting their car serviced.

Expect a 10 minute oil change and a complimentary BJ while you wait.

Sounds like good service Alyon.

What? That didn't happen to anybody else?

But seriously, like any service stop expect it to take twice as long. I have not heard too many bad things though.

Usually dealerships have better food and drink supplies offered as well. Like donuts!

Do Toyota/Scion offer complimentary loaner vehicles?

jarviz 09-11-2012 02:42 PM

should I be tipping for the BJ even if I didn't ask for it?

Wait is it the mechanics or the receptionists that offer this service?

I think that only happens if something breaks apart under warranty and they need to hold your car for service for an extended amount of time.

My local Toyota dealer, like most others, has an Express Lube service. I'm usually in and out in under 45 minutes unless I come in at peak hours of business.

Hmmm... Better not get that mixed up....

3 Hour BJ by a Donut...... Doesn't that lead to infections? No wonder the service guys are always angry.

My Toyota dealer is actually quite fast and zippy. If it's just an oil change, it's a guaranteed less than 30 minutes.

It's also a good idea to learn to change oil yourself. It ain't fun, but it sure feels good knowing you're in charge of maintenance. Best of all, apart from the cost of oil, it's FREE.

...just make sure you request an "oil change". If you use the phrase "lube job" that could mean a different act from the service manager and it might not be something you would enjoy.

I know I didn't...
