AMT, Air Maintenance Technology

Goodyear plans to make adding air to your tire a thing of the past.

I think it would be great, but I can see pitfalls, like moisture buildup.:iono:

I thought we were moving more towards airless altogether...

^ i think i prefer the airless tires better, but style of the tires will probably be its biggest downfall.

Some ricers will LOVE the fact that it makes the rim look HUGE and the tire very very very very very low-low profile!

I think they'll have to close in the sidewalls, obviously. Could you imagine getting water, snow, or sand in there? Or even imagine just a little pebble or piece of debris and it could turn into a 100fps slingshot.

^ :bellyroll: Yeah that could get deadly and would take drive-by-shootings to a whole different level!

Police-"Did you hear gun shots? Was the driver holding a gun? Did see if the passenger fired any bullets... anything?!?!"

Witness-"mmm, I don't know... all I saw with this car drive by with those airless tires and flung a rock hitting him in the head!"

:clap::bellyroll:

That has been floating around (no pun intended) for a years already and have yet to see it on the market. I could see different size sidewalls available based on the amount/angle of the shear bands and spokes.

The AMT technology is a good idea as well and hopefully this will obsolete TPS. If it's small enough and can float tire pressures without affecting any performance, I'm all for it. I'm assuming it's going to get and store it's power similar to the faraday lights.

I think the airless tire would be great for military applications. What I don't understand is how do you replace the tire?

I've seen those airless/flat proof tires on skid-steers before, our last bobcat at work had them. Very good on this type of machinery, we always get flats on the normal tires.

They didn't look like those Michelin ones, they were a lot more solid.

It'll be the future for sure, only a matter of time.
