I'm getting Focal speakers installed throughout the entire car next week and will let everyone know how the sound is compared to stock.

Honestly I love pioneer stuff. The OEM crap doesn't even count as pioneer. Put 6.5" 2 ways in my miata and It made me rethink even needing a sub. My 2c on brand. Don't know enough about install to help. I normally read read read then wing it. :D seems like lots of good info. I will say though I think sound deadening is a stellar choice. Pita but worth it. Makes the car as a whole feel nicer more quality

I'm running the door components off an amp and the smaller 3.5s off the head unit (avh-4300dvd) I'm running a single kicker l7 in the trunk for bass. I love this system.

I think upgrading the door speakers to components and adding a sub would be the best though. You don't get much out of those little speakers anyway.

did you have to modify dash to fit these in there? It seems like a very shallow area

Perhaps some sound deadening/dampening is in order. It is the foundation of any great sounding system

This is what I did as well. Most of the sound comes from the dash so none of that b.s. about having drivers too far apart to worry about. The bass drivers in the door don't come in until below 500hz. Active crossovers with good adjustability built in so only one amp needed to get you started. No dash mods needed, the speakers just about drop in. You can probably fit your amp where the factory one was.

Yea I had to hack the front dash a bit to fit. At the time there weren't any mounts so it may be different now.
