What is the widest tire for these wheels?

These are the wheels I'm looking at. They are the JDM BRZ STI wheels 5x100. They come in 17's and 18's. The 17's are 17x7.5j +48mm and the 18's are 18x7.5j +48mm. What are the largest tires I could get on these?

I am planning on turbo next year so I want the right size tires for the grip I will need. Mostly for street use.

I wish these were at least 8 or 8.5 widths. If they were 9's they would be the only wheel I would buy for this car.

I know it's killing me being 7.5. I was hoping someone would chime in and tell me I'm wrong and can use a wider tire than 7.5 . Lol

Those wheels came standard on some Liberties (Legacies) over here. Many people use 235/40R18s on them, but I would not. There was a batch of 18x8 +48 of these wheels made (I think it was these). If you're really keen, post a "Wanted" thead on liberty.asn.au

posting there might help since your thread title is kind of ambiguous

widest or ideal?

ideally you'd want 225/45/17 for 7.5 wheels. you could go even wider but that would depend on how stiff the tire sidewalls are.

ngabdala 09-11-2012 02:26 AM

Damn. I guess I wish ideal was at least 18". These wheels go from $460-$520 each depending on if it's a 17 or 18". If I was going to spend that much money I'd want an ideal size of at least 8"

you could easily find wider wheels for less than that on tirerack.com.

they won't be mad jdm y0 wheels, but their selection is still pretty good.

Oh I agree. I have my eyes on some OZ Wheels. I just really love the look of those STI wheels. If I could only find a quality name that has the exact same look. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. :iono:

I think Rota do a ripoff of those wheels.
