No more FRS....jdm badges on the way.
 

I took the FRS badge off the rear in preparation for all the JDM badges that should arrive in a day or so. I will post pics when the new ones get put on.

Taking the FRS was a breeze thanks to my Auto trim and molding tool set that I picked up from Harbor Freight. Best $6 I have spent in a while.

Just wedge the tool between the body and the badge and pull up. Do this around the out side edge of the badge and pull it up a section at a time. Eventually you can just pull the whole badge up. If you care about the badge be careful because the only thing holding it together is the little "-" in the FR-S and that could snap easily.

Then I used a heat gun on the low setting and pulled up the glue with my finger nails. Last step is to remove any residue with denatured alcohol.

Front badge is a bitch so be patient with it.

I heard that the front is a bitch, you basically need to break the tabs off to get it off right?

The tools are awesome, used them to remove the dash panels to get to the flasher relay too. No marring on paint or panels.

With that kit, maybe not. I had all the adhesive behind the badge detached from the bumper but the tabs just wouldn't give. It finally came off, snapping only one of the tabs. Luckily I didn't scratch or mar anything.

Using one of those pronged tools should allow you to pull it off without snapping the tabs pretty easily.

how does one get off the front badge the easiest? i assume nobody is pulling off the front bumper.

Personally, I've been told to use floss. Wrap both ends around a finger in each hand and "saw" your way through on each side until you rip your way through the glue. The front badge was really a bitch to do though because it was held in tight and had two tabs in odd locations. My fingers were blistered and sore half way through and I ended up tying the floss to whatever I had in my pocket and using them as handles while I kept sawing (which was a pen and a knife). Even after sawing almost all the way through I had to pull the emblem really hard to get it off and broke both tabs when it was finally off. You'd think that by that time I'd be relieved but no, the glue was just as hard to get off even with goo gone and a heat gun.:mad0259: Afterwards though the JDM T emblem looks awesome on the front and back.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't answer your question lol. My advice would be to do what I did and tie floss (double strand it) to strong durable objects that won't hurt your hands when your saw aggressively. I used this method on another forum member's car and the results were pretty good (again with my knife and pen). Just be careful not to leave any scratches with the objects. Strong plastic objects > Metal objects.:thumbup:

I think I should be able to pry it off and get the prong around the clip without issue. I will let you know how it goes.

Well, I got the front and rear badges off last night. One slight hiccup though. I stupidly pried against the raised area around the logo. As soon as I did it I knew it was dumb and stopped.

Unfortunately my lapse in judgement left two slight indents in the clear. I am hoping that Garry can do something with it to make it less noticeable, even though I think only a keen eye would spot it once the Toyota emblem goes on, when he does the paint correction.

Good find with the Harbor Frieight kit.
