ECUTek Support

Thought I would start a thread on ECUtek where we can all pool our experience to make the best of the product.
If there are trolling comments or negative comments, keep it to yourselves or start a new thread unless it is constructive.

I’ll start:

I had some issues installing and getting the flash done, no fault of John, different end of the world.

So here are the problem and solutions.

PROBLEM:

Installed software but the cable is not communicating.

Error: CANUSB drivers not found or CAN errors. Not communicating with car.

Solution: Go to http://www.ecutek.com/Downloads.aspx and select the Download Hardware Drivers and download the latest drivers.

PROBLEM:

Cannot flash car, error you do not have a license.

I’ll need more clarification on this one

Solution: Check to see id license is 1. I had two files sent to me. So do a license update with the first file and check license is 1. Once you run the flash, license should gets reset to 0. Update license file with new file and license will come as 1 again.
If you update license with the new license before flash. License = 0

PROBLEM:

When doing the ECUtek update. File cannot update.

Solution: Check your internet connection

If I am incorrect can someone please advise.

I also was have a look at the other application and it gets a lot of info. It would be good if they do something like the DEFI and the HKS OBD-II Apple and Android app and also maybe setup a live graph while you drive.

Hey - Great thread / post.

That information is going to be very useful.

I'll add it my Flash Info thread as well.

Thanks!

Not a problem, but after the flash is complete and you restart the car, remember to let it idle for a few minutes on its own. Do NOT apply any throttle during this part.

I got my kit today, got all of the software installed, but when I try the 'Apply Feature Update' no file is in the folder to apply the license. Any ideas? I need to figure out how to get the Remote Update File (.upd file type).

Work with your tuner. There's normally a form you fill out where they validate your dongle ID, license, etc. They'll send you back the license to apply and a base tune file to begin your logging.

Ah, got it. I shot an email off to Avo with my fob and reg info and got the file. Just waiting for a ROM back from them now that I know my ECU details.

Mentions are hit or miss sometimes. If that doesn't work just hit the report button.

So kind of an old post but I have checked the interwebs and can't find an answer...

I have ECUTek and a standard license but every time I try to flash a modified ROM I get the error:

This ECU Type can only be programmed with a standard ROM or a ROM that has had Racerom features installed. Select another ROM or apply RaceROM features from the ROM Editor

The changes I made were to delete the rear O2 sensor and based on ECUTek page, the standard license can do that and I don't need RaceROM....

Thoughts?

What ROM are you trying to flash? I'd guess an OFT one?

I got it figured out. Hadn't checked on here in a while. I didn't realize you needed to activate the Racerom portion even if you didn't have Racerom features.
