Cruise control malfunction

Just picked up my FT86 last week, and the cruise control died over the weekend. After a couple of days it started working again. The check engine light was also coming on, but it seems okay now too. The dealer replaced some solonoid before delivery as there was a recall related to the cam gear which, as far as I can tell, caused the check engine light to come on incorrectly. He said the fix for that was to replace the solonoid (easy) or replace the cam gear (not so easy), and the new solonoid seemed to fix the problem.

Has anyone had a cruise control problem yet? or a check engine light problem? Needless to say this is very disappointing. Hope I don't have a lemon. :sigh:

Cruise control will not work if the car is throwing a code (CEL).

Have you taken a look at issues/warranty/recal/tsb page?
There are 8 CEL threads just on the first page.

Cruise control doesn't work in limp mode.

This is kind of crazy to me. Why should a CEL matter as far as the cruise is concerned? Are you going to drive sixty-five differently just b/c of a light?

Wait...Am I hearing this correctly?...You just got the car last week and you're already using the Cruise Control feature before the car/engine is even broken in?...

Owner's manual clearly states not to stay in constant engine speed (RPM) before the stated mileage.

engine speed during break in

My owner's manual says not to drive at the same speed "for a long time" during break in. I did vary the speed some. Got the car on Aug 30 and it was broken in by Sep 2 :) The problem started during break in (around 700 miles) and continued until around 1300 miles.

Thanks, that's a relief. At least the cruise control isn't messed up too.

The only thing that could be messed up is the cruise control buttons. There are no extra parts to run the cruise control - the car already has an electronic throttle so no extra solenoids or actuators are needed for the computer to control the throttle.

Your car is under warranty, get it fixed for free at the dealer...

Where is the link to the SCion TSB for the VVT control valve?

All I see are words on the form and no link to factory / dealer TSB's or recalls.
