Syms Racing Intake

Looks to be a ram type intake and I like the use of the stock intake. Just wondering how much it will cost.

looks oddly close to the edge of the foam bumper. The plastic of the front bumper is about a half a centimeter away from that, which i think would be pretty restrictive to airflow.

That's how many intakes for the S2000 were such as the Mugen intake but it proved to be very effective on that platform at least.

interesting to see them replace the sound tube with a carbon resonator instead of just deleting it all together.

This will not be cheap.

Spartan65 09-06-2012 03:12 PM

Yeah this piece will be expensive, when some one makes one out of rota formed plastic I might be able to afford it, the CFM will go through the roof, definitely a required tune item. I would have put air straighteners on the front to give some structure rigidity IMO.

Draco-REX 09-06-2012 03:14 PM

The original resonator is gone too. I would worry about that. I'd want to see MAF readings around idle and off-idle. If the sound tube or that optional resonator isn't enough to cancel the resonance in the intake tube it could cause a part-throttle bog.

JoeBoxer 09-06-2012 03:34 PM

Looks nice but why go to all that trouble and expense and leave the factory accordian tube?

Genomaxter 09-06-2012 04:42 PM

The ridges on a stock intake actually have a purpose. I read somewhere is has to do with sound resonance coming from the intake manifold from teh valves closing. I will need to find those articles again. Must confirm.

Someone PLEASE make this out of plastic!!!! I think this will be the best performing intake upgrade for the platform. Whoever makes an affordable model out of plastic will sell a TON of them. Is anyone listening?!?! Now go get to work!

I like the engineering here. Every other intake system we have so far is just a filter on the end of a chunk of tubing. Sometimes it has a box or heat shield around it depending on where you buy. I'm in for updates on his one...

Best looking intake mod I've yet seen. The change in resonators is interesting.

This is what I'm looking for

Make one out of plastic NOW!!!

This + Perrin drop-in seems like a good plan... waiting to see results
