Bad luck on the first day of school...

This morning, I drove into my school's student parking lot and parked my raven FRS in a space where no cars were around. I went through the school day and after a long cross country practice, I looked forward to getting behind the wheel of my FRS and heading home. As I got closer to my car, I noticed white streaks on the driver side door and when I got close enough, I saw that someone scraped against the side of my car, leaving a nasty, large scratch that dug through the paint and left a dent along the scratch. I was cursing for half an hour; my beloved FRS took a serious hit (at least to me), but what pissed me off even more was the fact that the driver who hit my car didn't leave a note or anything so that I could contact me. He drove away from a crime that seems punishable by death like a little p#ssy. I think I am going to cry myself to sleep tonight.

Very sorry to hear this. People seem so resentful/jealous of these cars. I hope you're able to have insurance repair it without issue. Good luck.

Also, i checked New Jersey state law and harming Toyota Heritage Incarnate is in fact punishable by death or 30 lashes. Perp chooses.

Check with school security to see if there is video surveillance. Check cars tomorrow for damage with paint from your car. Good luck!

That seriously sucks man. Make sure you file a police report and call your insurance and let them know. They should cover it and you will prolly only have to pay the deductible. I had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago.

It really depends on how you wanna go about this.

First thing is, if you contact your insurance, you have a chance of raising your rates. But the thing is you're guaranteed to get your car taken care of. This is of course after you pay your deductible ranging anywhere from 75-500 dollars. Depending on how bad the scratch and dent is could be way more than this so it might be something that you're willing to do.

Another route to take is to find a car that has damage to it that is consistent with your body damage. If it looks like another car hit you, then I guarantee that you guys traded paint. And for your car to be black, it'll show up easily on non black cars. Confront the owner of the vehicle in a non-aggressive manner and ask them if they were involved and if they were then ask nicely to pay for the damage to your car. If they refuse but the evidence is consistent enough, then you can ask the police to investigate. To be honest, "They'll do what they can." It might not be much, but it just might go somewhere also. File the police report and if they find that they are the culprits then you will get it taken care of by either them or their insurance.

Same thing happened to me, a hit and run. I confronted the suspected individual outside of my apartment. I bluntly said,"Can I ask you an honest question? Did you hit my car?" Then I described the damage to my car and how it was closely related to his damage. Then once he replied, he explained that he was in a hurry and couldn't leave me any info and he was meaning to but forgot. Got it taken care of!

Good ruck!

figure out what car it was and destroy it.

i couldnt imagine driving a new car and parking in a high school lot! hundreds of new drivers in one place is a mighty scary thing

I'm probably going to file a report tomorrow and check with my school. I'm a senior now and usually park around really nice cars (some seniors in my school have M3's, brand new mercs, wrx's, secondhand porsches, really clean mustangs). I just got to school a little early today and there weren't too many cars around. I parked in my usual spot, I guess one of the newer drivers was just being careless. I'm not a very confrontational person and won't start a fight (although this time, it's going to be real hard not to). If the guy who hit my car comes up to me and tells me, I'm not going to get aggressive at all, just get his contact and insurance info and try to settle the incident peacefully.

College lots aren't much better.

OP: Get the car fixed then buy a $500 POS beater to drive to school. Granted, you won't be "That guy that drives the cool car to school." Instead, you'll be the "I hear he has TWO cars, and one of them's really nice!" guy.

Just saying, half the cars in a typical school parking lot will meet that description. I know because I commute to one every day.

Good luck to the OP with getting the car fixed on the responsible party's dime and not your own.

Funny you mention getting a beater, I originally wanted to buy a used altima with around 200k miles (really just wanted something to get from point A to point B), but my parents absolutely refused to let me buy a used car, even with my own money. They're still opposed to it and say it would be a waste of money. I think I'll just take my bike from now on lol.

I'm in Paramus, Bergen County. My school does have security cameras and the funny thing is, my car was parked right in front of one. whoever hit my car will definitely be caught. I just have to bring in a police report and they can review the footage.

I drove a crappy old '00 v6 Camaro and never in my 3 years of driving to high school did I have so much as even a door ding. That's some bad luck you have there... Hopefully it's on camera. Will it buff out?
