Engine sound being piped into the cabin...

I already did a search on various phrases and subcategories but can't find anything on removing the engine sound being amplified into the cabin. It sounds like it is coming into the cabin from under the passenger side dash. Can anyone help me out in finding a link w/ any related info. Thanks in advance.

It's called the "noise generator sound tube", inside your engine bay.

Here's a start; http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=sound+tube

+1 here as well. I enjoy the engine sound as well :burnrubber:

Yeah, I love that sound.

I find it useful, but not necessarily for aesthetic reasons. The exhaust is so quiet it helps with the shift points

+1 on shift point assist. It evens out the tire and wind noise as well.

With the stock exhaust it's great for shift points. But with a louder aftermarket exhaust, it's pretty much inaudible. I'm planning to remove mine eventually to clean up the engine bay.

Once I changed my exhaust I could not hear the sound tube at all. Got rid of it for a cleaner engine bay and noticed no difference.

No dyno test to see if it helps

Just FWI TRD is releasing plugs to alter the sound coming from the sound generator...

Related question. I haven't seen another in person, and from inside the cabin, at near redline at full throttle, it sounds fairly loud but how loud is the external engine noise? To other cars and pedestrians?

Does it seem louder to us because of the tube or can everyone within half a mile tell you're giving it the beans?
