wanted white but concerned about paint

really wanted white but since its going to be my daily driver, I'm concerned that in the event I get into a fender bender or a few rock chips here and there its going to be next to impossible to match the white pearl:(

JoeBoxer 09-04-2012 05:02 PM

its a pain to keep clean for sure, i'm ready for winter so i don't have to clean bugs off the front everytime i drive at night.

whitefrs 09-04-2012 05:16 PM

but it looks so pretty and who ever will repaint your car they will have to match it anyhow

gmookher 09-04-2012 05:34 PM

get a plastic overlay

I went to an art store, and bought some acrylic pearl white It matched the rock chip I got perfectly.

clear bra will be your best friend!

VSGTS14 09-04-2012 06:05 PM

yea, clear bra it if you're concerned about the front end. however, in an accident, a good bodyshop will have no problem. the pearl white will be easier to take care of than plain white.

Personal preference I think. Clear bras are good at fending off those pesky pinhole paint chips, but look horrible when something larger happens that actually pierces the clear bra.

you can apply a thicker film for it not to pierce very easily

Why is that? I am just curious if you can shed some light.

completely off topic, but I like what you did to your Brz with the blue rims, but wouldn't lowering it make it look a tiny bit better?

the pearl paint isn't as...bare, if i am using the correct terminology. bugs won't show as bad, swirls def won't show, but you can't see swirls on any white unless the paint is fucked. (well you can, but not as easily as black duh). i'd rather have a pearl white than plain white. plain white discolors more, is actually harder to match because of so many different tones (too white, too yellowy), i've seen my friend's sti get partly repainted and the shop messed up the white.

i have a whiteout fr-s inbound to me this week finally. :) i couldn't even buy a new one from my own toyota dealer (that my father owns). so i went to auction and found one with 800 miles for MSRP pretty much with clear bra on the entire front. excited.

I already had a body shop visit for a rock damage and no one can tell or can find the repair, fwiw, he said matching black and white is easier than most other colors
