Alarm System
I got the alarm system for my FR-S from Scion, and I recently went out of town, away from my car for four days. I got back, got in my car and drove somewhere, and when I arrived, I got out and locked my car. My car usually responds with a VERY loud "WEEP WEEP" alarm arming sound, but this time it was a very quiet one. I'm not sure if I should be concerned that my alarm went off while I was gone and damaged the horn for the alarm. My main suspicion is that the battery is low from not being driven in four days and the alarm is programmed to use less battery in this case, resulting in a quieter alarm arming sound. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so, did it return to it's normal volume after the battery has had time to fully recharge?
Update: After driving my car a bit more, it has stopped making any sound when I arm the alarm and when I trip the alarm, the blinkers go on but on like the alarm is going off, but no sound comes out. Any ideas of what might have happened? |
If you have earplugs in and/or are listening to music, I'd advise to take them out and/or turn the music off. If that is not the problem, take the car in to get serviced. Could be as simple as a bad electrical connection to a speaker.

Is it possible it could have gotten wet? I had a friend who's speaker suffered from a torrential downpour... The system worked, just the sound emitter got busted.

I guess it's possible that it got wet. There was probably some dew and some mist in the morning. I highly doubt that a little bit of dew and mist would damage that. If if did, then it would never survive a rainstorm, or even a slight drizzle. There's no way any engineer would make such a faulty design that their product would break over the course of 2 months of normal usage. I'm calling Toyota next time I get a chance to tell them what happened and get some kind of solution for it.
