Prepping for rear spoiler install?
I finally received my rear spoiler today. Being the Labor Day weekend, I can't call Five Axis, and I want to get this thing installed as soon as I can. My questions are these:
What do I have to do as far as prep on the trunk lid to make sure the spoiler attaches as securely as possible? I guess I need to strip the wax off, right? What works best? Regular dish soap? Goo Gone? Something else? After I get the wax off, the adhesion promoter on and the spoiler installed, do I need to let it "cure" for any amount of time? Or just stick & go? Thanks! |
Dish soap removes the wax but I would just wipe down the area with a good wash and wipe down and go at it. The 3M tape is really strong so I wouldn't be to concerned with it possibly falling off.

I usually clean it real nice with some soap and use alcohol to get some excessive grease off where the tape attaches to. Also line the wing up first and remove the tape
