Motiv Concepts Test Pipe!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to show some love from the guys at Motiv Concepts

http://www.motivconcepts.com/

First off there customer service is outstanding! Jason/Jordan really know how to make a customer feel like welcomed.

Motiv Concepts has two different types of pipes: Test pipe and HFC pipe.

I got there test pipe cause i wanted more power/sound ;)

When installing the Test pipe last night, it was very easy at the begnning then when it was time to take out the main bolts from the front....it became alittle harder...BUT a little WD-40 helped out a lot!

As for the results...all i can say is WOW! (I am running Tanabe's Medalion exhaust system) you could really feel the difference with power and sound!!
:burnrubber:

I'll post up a video later on....

Opposed 09-01-2012 06:21 PM

Nice looking piece! Im really starting to like these...Especially for the price. Still haven't seen any dyno testing yet.

MotivConcepts 09-03-2012 01:02 PM

Thanks for coming by Rene and glad you got the pipe on! Can't wait to see the video and how the rest of your project turns out.

zooki 09-03-2012 08:24 PM

Okay, I guess I'll be "that guy"...
Ahem. weight, price, dyno numbers?

Correct

JoeBoxer 09-04-2012 07:55 PM

Easier install than the crank pulley if you have a lift too.

empower-auto 09-04-2012 07:57 PM

I wouldn't go that far. Crank pulley was a joke. 5 mins

JoeBoxer 09-04-2012 08:01 PM

That bolt was a pain on mine, i rolled it up on the alignment rack and put this on faster than the crank pulley.

jeebus 09-04-2012 08:20 PM

someone get some dynos stat

SkullWorks 09-04-2012 08:29 PM

working on it^

Talked with Jordan yesterday, dropped off my BRZ for some "other" exhaust fitting they are doing for me.

I think it is funny that these guys will even work on our little beater cars, If you only knew the level and quality of cars they work on you would be blown away.

Super Top Notch fabricators...schmucks in general but great fabricators....

I have been doing this kind of stuff a long time and I don't remember having a more positive experience. I'm pretty jealous you are local and getting what i think you are getting over there.
I'm going to see if they can use your car to make me an axleback if you don't mind ;)

86design 09-04-2012 11:11 PM

made a video but its not working...trying to put it on youtube!!!

combination of the two, i have just the test pipe and its not loud at all in my opinion i was hoping it would be louder now i have to get an exhaust too. does the tanabe have a resonator?

do you have a HFC or Test Pipe?

the tanabe exhaust system does not have a resonator

JoeBoxer 09-05-2012 12:34 AM

I got the test pipe, I just went for a drive windows down and it does have a little rasp to it. If i get an exhaust too it will most likely be an axleback so the stock resonator will still be there.

Subaruwrxfan 09-05-2012 12:44 AM

This pipe is in risky territory for me. The sound is riding the fence between sounding like a riced out civic and sounding like an epic S2000. I'm leaning towards loving it. Would this bolt up with the SRT exhaust?

JoeBoxer 09-05-2012 12:49 AM

It's factory fit so I would think any exhaust would work. You can get the SRT to include this same section if you get the header back kit and its only $200 more than the cat back.

Sounds like a good idea...

Will do...ill see if my friend is free tomorrow to help me out...if not for sure Saturday :)

MotivConcepts 09-05-2012 01:11 PM

If you aren't a fan of the rasp, the HFC is definitely a better choice for you.

Thanks for the video Rene!

If they want to use my car for test fitting/development they know they are welcome to it.

I have been in contact with them since I pre-ordered the car on Mar 2nd.

I'm going to test fit my wheels on it to make sure I don't have to buy new ones whenever I get my car ;)

SkullWorks 09-05-2012 02:24 PM

Just go ahead and leave them on I'll do some durability testing lol

empower-auto 09-05-2012 02:36 PM

I've got zero rasp with my test-pipe. I have been complimented on the sound a few times :)

OK! I'll just add $3,000 to your invoice and you can keep them. Deal of the century!

Is there a significant loss in power by getting the HFC?

It depends if you have other modifications done to your car. Forced induction, yes, you will notice better gains with a test pipe over an HFC, but if you're going the standard bolt-on route, you're talking a few horsepower difference. It all depends if you want your car to be louder with better performance, or a compromise between sound and horsepower.

FastLane1000 02-27-2013 06:26 PM

Could not be happier with my motive over pipe and catted front pipe! Very easy instalation of both. Great instructions. I did loosen the motor mounts on the crossmember to instal the over pipe. Just removed the nuts and barely threaded them back on to keep from having to line up the holes when i lowered the motor back down. I jacked up the motor at the oil pan. No more flat spot in the 4K-6K RPM range! Very noticeable improvement in power over 4k RPM. Catback is stock. The car begs to be reved out now. Before I would go ahead and shift cause higher rpms werent satisfying. $ well spent. Thanks Motiv! Now make me a resonated cat back!
