Yeah, I couldn't resist the double meaning Title name for this thread...

So, I'm sorry to disappoint all of the Saints fans thinking that your QB bought into the BRZ family, but it hasn't happened yet... hahaha

North Carolina not New Orleans is where this pairing between Drew, my name, and the BRZ, my car, takes place. It was a mighty long wait since my March pre-order, but it is totally worth it! Just in the single day of driving it around I found that my course extended quite a ways driving from the ATM to the grocery store among other trips as I was totally immersed in the sights, sounds, and tactile feedback of cutting through the roads like a hot knife through butter! I would forget where to turn at as I didn't want the experience to end and so there have been a couple of times where I would have to make a U-turn at an intersection to head back to where I wanted to get to...

Now, the gravy for this experience:

I had pre-ordered back in March and since July I've been in constant contact with SOA to see if they had any idea of when it would be delivered. I started with a VON which was upgraded earlier this month to a VIN (#2120) and an estimated delivery around Aug 20th which was there in their system one day and gone the next... I was surprised the customer service rep said that date at the time and I called the next day to hear the arrival would be "sometime in September". Yeah, get my hopes up and then dash them back-to-back!

With the general September date in mind I resigned to get back into waiting mode. I'm okay with that.

So, my mother asks if I have any plans this past Saturday, August 25th, which I didn't, and invited me to go along with her, her sister and nephew to go get some ice cream at Waverly Place in Cary.

I say alright, and we jump in her car to go meet up. I'm vaguely familiar with the area as I had been to a Cars & Coffee meet there a month before, but still no sense on where we're going specifically. We park, get out and start walking through an entrance to the common area of the mall and come upon a jungle gym with kids playing around.

My attention was mostly on the kids running around that I didn't notice a car parked in it's proximity until we were about 30ft away from it. Now, I've been interested in the Subaru BRZ since Nov/Dec 2011 so I'm familiar with the shape and available colors of it's body and this car parked in the common area suddenly struck me as familiar. My mind is racing along the track of thought that I need to warn my mom not to look in that direction as she has repeatedly said that she hopes my BRZ would be the first she caught notice of the Toyota/Subaru twins.

I'm totally pre-occupied with that line of thinking that when I tell her not to look in that direction and she returns the question "Well, whose do you think it is?" that it quickly clicks... did she just say that? It registered - It is MINE!

Completely duped, shocked, stunned I was! Here I was trapped in my belief that the car would likely show up sometime next month yet before my eyes was something defying that expectation!

Shortly after this realization Caz, the Johnson Subaru sales manager who I've been in contact with regularly, walked down from the upstairs balcony smiling a most victorious grin! Oh, a wicked partner in collaborating with my mom's plan to surprise me that evening! Well done!

Of course there are pictures to go along with this shocking event and I get to drive the car back to the dealership to sign a small mountain of paperwork and take ownership.

All of that sums up the main course of my Saturday evening. I may not have ended the evening with ice cream, but a fine dessert instead :happyanim:

I'm sure those who have read this completely through without skipping to the pictures understand that good stories simply cannot be shorted any details. Thanks for sticking with my story to the "end"! I hope each of you enjoys the feeling this car brings to life! Soak it up!

Of course the photographic evidence: Yes, the exhaust tips, chrome bulbs, and clear side markers went on in less than a day of ownership!
(Hopefully the pics are behaving better! Goodness!)

Quick question: How do I edit the photos to not stretch the page so wide? It is annoying me having to scroll side-to-side along with up-and-down.

Sorry about the early format issues! I just don't know how to fix it!

Thanks in advance for the suggestions/fixes!

Congrats on the car!

I use http://www.postimage.org/ and format it to a 1280x1024 just to accommodate most peoples monitors.

Hope that helps!

I am totally a forum newb... took me an hour once I sat down to figure out how to line things up right! Thank you Luke for the website suggestion - again I was dumbfounded with making it work properly! I just reduced the pixel dimensions on the original in MS Paint and that seemed to work quick and easy. I'll hopefully remember to format the pictures in the future! Anyway, thanks fellas for the kind responses! I hope good things keep surprising people when they least expect it!
