Exotics are babied luxury symbols and if you miss shift and fuck something up it'll cost tens of thousands. Do any race cars have gated shifters?

No, they have paddle or sequential shifters. A/T for the win!

I'm not sure being in Adelaide helps but If I ever find anyone with a GMM Ripshifter in a Commodore or Monaro, I'll bear that in mind thanks.

My original point was that of the "stock shifters" I have driven, including BMW's and Porsches, I haven't found much difference. Having said that I do now run a slightly modified slick shift gate, so that helps also.

That's why I have a metal slinky sitting around my shifter. My shifts sound like they're out of Fast and Furious... Even when I double clutch up shifting, you know, like in the movie! ;)

Do you also downshift in the quarter mile?

It all depends on if I want to win by only an inch or by a mile.

Well, that moots my argument. That aftermarket gate removes most of the complaints I have about gated shifters. Do they sell those for the last generation of gated shifter cars?

I don't think so, 355 was the last I could find

Regular UK/Euro S60... The original owner as an option had the T5 put in it. The car would scoot up to speed but it felt as if it weighed 6000lbs.

I'm old and in the way and get lost in my 6 speed box.

Agreed. There is nothing cooler than hearing the click clack metallic sound as you shift. The shifting is actually smoother than you may think.
