Whenever I lose my job I'll be searching for a new one outside of FL :)

I'm from South Jersey, right across the bridge from Philly. It's actually hotter up there during June and July than it is down here. August is when it starts to cool off up there, but they're still only a few degrees cooler than down here mostly because they're getting rain two times more frequent than we are.

I'll take 90 degree summers and 60 degree winters with 8 months of bikini beach weather over 85 degree summers and sub zero winters any day.

Central air conditioning FTW.

The entire east coast sucks. The only improvement is AZ/CA.

The Carolinas aren't horrible. Parts of CA are very nice, but the cost of living, and having to deal with Cali car culture (mostly all show, no go people) would make it hard for me to live there :P Some of the PNW outside of cali can be nice too. I'd love a Florida/Cali house for winter, then move back up to the great lakes for summer. Have real amounts of water in both seasons and multiple racetracks near both :P

Kinda hard to build a "go" car in California and still have it be able to appease the CARB enforcers. But, on a whole I agree with your reasons of not wanting to move to Cali.

I hate atlanta, but I like the southeast as a whole. Plenty of fun roads around here that are in decent condition. Mountains that have a good covering of trees, since I'm not too fond of desert climates.

Yeah you have some nice roads up there for sure. I've driven up there a lot in the mountains. Good times :)

When I was unemployed, I was seriously considering moving to some state outside of Cali where I could swap a BEAMS engine into my MR2 or legally own a RHD car just because Cali laws are so strict on motor vehicles.

One advantage of Cali is we generally don't have snow so rust is hardly an issue. I think parts of the PNW (where it doesn't snow) are cloudier than Cali so the sun doesn't fade the paint as much making it even more ideal than Cali in terms of wear/tear on a car.
