Melbourne dealer recommendations?

Anyone have a recommendation for a dealer in Melbourne? I've read the stickied thread, but it didn't really have enough information.

I'm looking for a dealership that doesn't pull any of this "you need a deposit to test drive" crap.

Anyone have any anecdotal experience? Looking for a manual GT.

I'm 22, so I don't want to be shooed away based on this.

Deer Park Toyota and Melton both let me test drive without any issues, Deer Park has a auto GTS to test and Melton has a manual GT.

Another Hilux driver!

If you were to go a BRZ, i would say to go see Deon at Subi Docklands, great guy to deal with.

I ordered from Melton and they were nice. They now have an auto GTS as well as the manual GT.

Yeah, they were nice there but we didn't end up ordering our car from them, our salesman was great but the finance guy was very rude and pushy with us when we decided to go ask our credit union about finance instead of them. :iono: They also wanted to charge us alot more than other dealerships for a manual GTS and wouldn't budge on price, alarm bells went off in my head so we left.

We ended up ordering our car at Shepparton Toyota, did everything over the phone and was easy as. We paid $39200 on road with slimline plates compared to the $42300 without slimlines that Melton wanted.

I got mine from Melton Toyota. They where pretty good. I did have to fight to get the web price, but they claimed it was a "system issue".

Agreed on the finance guy, stay away from him, gotta better service from the bank.

Ryan1JZ 08-29-2012 05:50 AM

haha i didnt like the finance guy either.

thats odd though about your price, green comet, i paid around $42300 drive away, BUT that was with interior illumination AND the aero kit!

i guess its luck of the draw with the salesman you get

If the price is too high, call them on it, and they'll fix it.

Ryan1JZ 08-29-2012 06:05 AM

I was happy with the price, seeing as the aero kit is $3000 and the illumination is $250 odd

I did call them on it and was told the following, "We put the information of the car you want into our system and it gives us a price, we charge the price on the screen and no less." I said "We were quoted the $39600 on road RRP for a manual GTS at Deer Park." his reply was that Deer Park was probably lying to me. :iono:

Ahh well, it's all done now, I just need to fast forward to the future to get my car.

melton toyota just rang me to say the have a silver GTS with aero kit that will be ready for viewing on saturday.

come to think of it im not sure if its a demo car or someones order, but he invited me to come take a gander on the weekend

That's pretty good! Thanks for the help guys. I'll probably check out Melton soon.

Sucks the wait is 18 months for a GT :( Might not even be worth test driving

It shouldn't be 18 months for a GT. GT is no where near as popular as the GTS.
