Nissan GT-R successor confirmed for 2018
 

Even though some sources indicated a while ago that there won’t be a next-gen GT-R, Edmunds has obtained some precious info after a visit to Nissan’s R&D center in Atsugi, saying that a new GT-R is due in 2018. One of the reasons why it will be quite a while until the next model comes out is because the chief engineer and product specialist of the vehicle left the company. Originally, the second generation of the GT-R was programmed for a 2015 launch.
Edmunds reports that towards the end of next year we’ll get to see some significant changes to the GT-R’s engine and exterior styling. The officials at the Japanese automaker consider that the GT-R needs some big modifications since in 2013 the car will reach its six year of production. For the moment there aren’t any confirmed details regarding the design changes, but various sources are indicating that the lights and the front bumper will get a new look. Chances are that the vehicle’s main body panels won’t suffer any modifications.
The same sources within the company are indicating that the team behind the GT-R is observing the development of the upcoming Acura NSX. The main reason for this is because Honda said that the new hybrid sports car will be faster than the GT-R on the troubled Nurburgring. This could mean that in the future Nissan will launch a hybrid variant of the GT-R.
2018 is a long way to go but as they say, it’s better late than never.

Im just hoping for a manual transmission version and some sort of inline 6.

Agreed. Paddles aren't necessarily bad, but some folks prefer a standard gear shift. Speed isn't everything.

Toyota has been teasing us with the idea of offering a new Supra sportscar for quite some time. First it was rumored that we would all see a new model in 2008, but that didn’t happen. Now, the rumor is back with a debut scheduled for sometime in 2015, after Toyota finally offers up the production version of the FT-86 for our greedy consumption.
Being since this is just a rumor, not much is known about the next Supra. Originally, people thought the Supra would be offered with two engine choices: a 5.0 liter V8 engine producing 450 HP and 383 lb-ft of torque and a 3.5 liter V6 engine with 350 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque. Now people are claiming that the future model will actually be a hybrid sports car powered by a V6 engine with an electric motor for a total output of 400 HP and a top speed of more than 170 mph.
We’ll know more about the next Toyota Supra in due time, but for now, a fan of the model decided to render it to give people an idea of what it could look like. His concept car combines the essence of the Supra with design elements from the recently launched FT-86 sports car. The result is something we would really like to see put into production.

A top speed of over 170? The MK4 Supras top speed was 178...

No mention of forced induction either. But really, it's all rumor. Remember the rumors about the FT? Nothing is solid until the pre-production model is sitting on a plinth at the Tokyo Auto Show.
