Questions about CEL

My car got the dreaded CEL at about 120 miles. Pulled the battery, reset the CEL light, but it came back on while pulling into a parking space this morning.

1) Is it bad to keep driving the car with the CEL on and the idle issue? Debating whether to tow the car or drive it home.

2) Does anyone notice at idle that if you press the gas lightly, the rpms will drop slightly before rising? Is that related to the poor idle?

Thanks.

I asked the dealer the same question when they did the first fix on mine as I was leaving on a road trip the next day. Of course it came back just pulling off the lot. I drove it hard all weekend, I figured they told me "it would be fine as the car puts itself in safemode." If it blew up I was just gonna ask for a new car. Ask your dealer what they recommend.

ive put over 1000 miles on mine with the CEL/SL light (cam issue) with no problems...

edit: not that i would ever recommend doing it...your car is not mine and i dont care about warranties.

Great, thanks for the feedback. Any other people driving around with CELs on?

Saw this over at a different FR-S forum:

They also advised me that any of you having this issue should not continue to drive your vehicles until taking them into the dealership.

Looks like I'll be leaving the car in the garage until I have time to get this resolved. :sigh:

That's what they said was the problem on mine but it didn't fix it until the ecu was replaced.

If the Subaru dealerships in your area have the parts you need in stock, you can pressure Scion to buy the parts at elevated cost from Subaru to get the job done faster. They have to get authorization from corporate, but I had been waiting for weeks as it is. Just an idea. :iono:
