Maybe just not organized.

A decent number of BRZ/ FRS owners show up at autocross events.

I however do not do much on the track day event side.

Hey guys,

Pick up a lightning red BRZ on July 1st; decided to check in since I have some local-ish questions and wanted to say HI.

I saw a lot of BRZs at the SCCA event (test-n-tune weekend). Was surprised to see it out in such large numbers... just over a year after release. Have two friends who SCCA, one running a WRX STI and another running an RX8. I'll be back down there to hang around and watch this weekend.

To my questions:
1) Looking for 17' Enkei RPF1s if anyone has a source of used sets/etc. Color doesn't matter as they'll be turned white.
2) Anyone do engine rebuilds? It's kind of a bucket list/personal challenge thing. I don't want to die before taking an engine out of a car, rebuilding it and putting it back in. Etc. Thinking 90' or 91' Miata that someone hasn't treated well.
3) Opinions on opti-coat and places to possibly get it? Tender Car?
4) Suggestions on where to get my tint done?

That's about it; I'm dying waiting for the first of the month!

Welcome!

I got my car detailed at Tender Car and I must say the initial thought when you arrive is WOW but I do believe they are all false advertising, I found many scratches that were not there before and I do not believe they put a opti-coat like substance, just looked in Rain-X to me. I would not suggest going there.

As far as window tiniting and getting it done right, go to Blacked Out Windows in West Bend, there is a 2 month waiting list and it is about $239.

and now since the weather is nice, lets do a group meet! I am sure we'll get more than 5 cars this time lol

For RPF1's buy new and buy from Big Bear Tire.

At the SCCA test/tune last weekend there were 4 of the twins there, 3 for STX and 1 for RTR.

On race day Sunday we had even more of them there.

I was pretty intimidated down there; don't want to just start introducing myself to people in the middle of changing tires/etc.

Is the best way to get involved to wait until the training class in the spring?

There is the drivers school in spring but if you want to get in on the action just sign up for an event. We have a 2 day event coming up next weekend ( which is actually 2 events 1 Sat 1 Sun). We have plenty of people that would be willing to help you get started.

Hey, I was the white one down there with the gold RPF-1s on the car. I go to pretty much every event. Everyone down there is pretty friendly and more than willing to help new people out. The school in the spring is a great learning experience, but if you want to get involved, you don't have to wait until then. Next time you are down there, come and say hi and I'll help you with any questions you have! :)

Thanks, I appreciate having someone I can go say hi to.

So what is the "Tri-Pod Challenge" ???

BrewCity-FR-S 06-25-2013 12:11 PM

Anyone going down to Summerfest? Who are you seeing?

2superblus 06-25-2013 01:43 PM

Mike and Tony Machi are related.

As for the Tripod challenge it is and Event of WI vs MN vs IL autocrossers all trying to win the infamous Helga trophy. Top 20 on pax win point for their home region, the region with the most points wins the trophy for a year.
