Did Toyota bribe every car journalist?
 

My brother isn't a fan of the 86... at all.

He hasn't driven it, but is adamant that a sports car with only 200HP is not a sports car at all.

I argue that it wasn't built for speed, but for handling.

He replies "Of course! I'd be concerned if you couldn't handle a car that slow!"

I then mention how every car journalist has rates the car.

His argument is that Toyota paid off every car journalist... either with money or by giving them an actual 86.

I said "that's ridiculous".

He said "well it does explain why you can't even buy one - cos they gave them all away!"

He's good for a laugh, thought I'd share this.

Anyone can make a fast boring car. It takes something special to give a car soul.

Has a history of muscle cars. Currently drives a FPV (Ford V6 Turbo in Oz). Also building a 67 Eleanor (same as Gone in 60 Seconds). Admittedly, a serious car.

yes i think its ENTIRELY plausible that Toyota paid off EVERY journalist in the world... including people like Jeremy Clarkson who makes over $10 mil. USD a year... and people like Chris Harris who has a stable full of supercars... yeah... a $25,000 car is all it takes

If that's true and any high ranking official at Toyota is reading this - I take bribes. Give me a free FR-S (or BRZ) or pay off the one I already have and I promise that I will go online every day for at least 6 months and write a glowing review of these cars on as many car boards I can find.:thumbup:

Why do I feel I'm the only person under the age of 40 that understands what a Sports Car was originally designed as?

People mistake Touring/Grand Touring cars for sports cars way too often these days.

Some people are anti-hype. And someone who is churning up an illogical argument from nowhere, may not value logic (at least in this situation). If someone does not value logic in a situation, what logical argument could you provide to show they should value logic?
