Engine sound trying too hard?
Does anyone else think that the engine is trying too hard?
To me, it sounds like theres something mechanically wrong with it. Its high pitched and I feel like I'm hurting it when I rev it too high :( Poor car. Its trying too hard but I still love it. |
No...engine is not trying hard enough. I'd be happy if it revved and pulled to ~8k rpm from the factory...
Engine has the same characteristics of an B18A/B Integra motor or the 20Valve 4-AGE corolla motor to me...loves spending most of it's time in the upper RPM band. But it does have nice torque (Below 3k rpm and past 4.5k rpm...) |

I believe you're talking about "buzzing" but can't tell for sure without listening to it. That's typical 4 banger noise though. Remember it doesn't have the budget of a porsche or a BMW just to get it to sound nice at high RPMs.
