A couple of Mods & Sound Upgrade

I ordered the OEM Audio upgrade within a week of getting the car because I was pretty unhappy with how it sounded. It took about a month to get it (definitely worth the wait) and it was finally installed yesterday. It made a huge difference and I'm happy with it now! :D The kit comes with replacement tweeters (I took a pic of the ones that came out in case anyone was curious).

Also, I bought the red stitched boot and leather brake handle. Thanks to @Hanakuso 's post in the DIY section it was a pretty easy swap!

Thanks! It made a 100% difference so I guess I would say 10. I was hoping it would make a noticeable difference (I knew it would have more base) but without changing the other speakers or the HU, I wasn't expecting a whole lot. It really exceeded my expectations though.

I ordered the sub kit from toyota parts outlet. When I ordered it, it was $875 (retail $1,099), but now I think they're selling it for $100 more. The boot, brake handle and trunk liner came from subaru parts online.

What did the audio upgrade kit come with?

Interior looks great by the way...seats and the shifter boot make a huge difference...

I really like that e brake and that doesn't sound to bad on a price for the sub kit from Toyota! Again congrats you keep up the good work

How complicated is the OEM Audio upgrade kit to install?

ravenMTgirl 08-26-2012 12:59 AM

We didn't install the audio upgrade ourselves. It came with an installation booklet and a wiring harness that's supposed to be plug n play. The booklet said it takes 2 hours. My dealer charged $110 to do it.

How much did you pay for your seats?

^ Correct :) dealer add on...

They were $1,400 and they're Katzkin brand.

Jason952 08-27-2012 03:05 PM

how are the katzkins, those look like the same color I would want....had a set in my wife's old car and they were so soft yet durable

denverizzles 08-27-2012 03:34 PM

are you concerned at all with the placement of the sub? i always hated putting a sub on one side of the car with the belief it may throw off the balance of the car.
