1. Stock tune + aftermarket intake = problems

2. Aftermarket intake + aftermarket tune THAT DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR AFTERMARKET INTAKE = problems.

3. To add on to what has already been said... aftermarket companies are not the end all be all of information and they too make mistakes. Just because they say a tune is not required does not mean that it wont.

The only problem I see with what they are saying is they are missing #3

3. Aftermarket intake + No Tune = problems for some

number 3 is the entire point that I was getting at. this whole drama came up due to the air raid thread and their claims that nothing was wrong with their product, and the deletion of posts within their thread.

Let's just do a basic statistical analysis here...I am aware we have a biased and flawed sample but that's all we have to work with. I'm sure the bias actually makes the problem look worse than it is since people come to forums to complain or find solutions.

Of 19 users so far that have an aftermarket intake installed...

5.2% (1 person) Is on a stock tune and has problems.
31% (6 people) Are on aftermarket tunes and have problems.
63% (12 people) Are on the stock tune and have no problems.

Of the people (6) with an aftermarket tune and an intake, 100% have problems.

Of the people (13) with a stock tune and an intake, 7% (1 person) have problems. It's interesting to note that 2 people have reported having this issue completely stock. ???

I think it's significant that so far nobody has reported that they have a tune and intake with no issues. So what I've sort of been saying the whole time is that it's a bit early to say with any certainty that aftermarket intakes cause this issue on the stock tune. It also appears that there is a strong correlation between aftermarket intakes and the one aftermarket tune that is available creating the bogging issue. Let's try and be more scientific about this and less Fox News.

I'm also confident that this problem will be sorted out through tuning. It just takes time. Seems like Visconti will be all over it which is awesome for us.

are the people having problems using manual or AT trans? im using air raid with stock tune on AT without any problems

2forme 08-26-2012 03:26 PM

Those numbers aren't complete yet. There were 3 people in the AIRAID thread alone that had stock tunes and problems.

The biggest problem is that the people who said they have an aftermarket intake and no problems aren't telling us if they did the test. Just because they haven't encountered it in their driving does not mean it doesn't exist.
