Dry carbon fiber hood

Have you guys seen this hood yet? It's supposedly half the weight of the stock hood.

That add raises several red flags for me... The hood looks nice tho.

Drift vented......?

Ohhh, the vents only work when the car is sideways, or when the rear bumper is missing...

Doesn't look bad otherwise (too flashy for me), hopefully for that price it's UV protected well enough not to yellow or flake off from sun exposure. I wonder how the underlying structure looks...

Need my VIN# to order a hood? Neh. Thanks.

yeaaah wtf do they need the VIN for, and how could it possibly prevent someone from copying the design? That is odd...

$1,200? I think NOT!

Dadhawk 08-25-2012 01:21 PM

Note in the photo they've painted/wrapped the fenders to take the hood line more "naturally" out to the edges of the car. I do like it, but would want it in Firestorm if I was going to get it. Not at $1200 though. Not sure reducing the weight of the already light hood in half is worth $1200.

I'm actually not surprised by this price.

Did you ever think that maybe they want your VIN to cast or etch it into your hood for theft protection??

Except they told us why they want the VIN: so we don't steal the design. I love doing business with people who think I'm a thief.

The problem with carbon fiber hoods is there is no one-size fits all. A lot of the time they don't fit properly.

I'm pretty sure their description said they'll test the fitment of each hood.

I am pretty sure everything in that picture is photoshopped, including the hood.

The only way that I would ever entertain any carbon body bits is from the factory.
