just a for fun update, i still have not heard a WORD from the dealership since last week on an eta or update of any sort. i sent scion a 1.5 page email late last night.. they called me back this morning, and are forwarding the paperwork to start the arbitration process to purchase my car back. takes up to 15 days to get paperwork they say... curious as to what the wording and stipulations are going to be in them...

Good man, don't be a test subject. What's your plan after this?

All of the BRZ CEL's seem to be occurring around VIN#'s 6027XX and 6026XX. I worry a lot.

Early adopters of technology are always at greater risk than say the 3rd year run of a car.

It's part of the excitement and the fun of having a car where people come up to you and go damn, what is that car, I've never seen it before.

Again, as others have said Toyota and Subaru want this car to succeed. They'll take care of the problems but they have to first isolate them and not do a shotgun approach or else they'll never pinpoint the issue.

In their best interest they should buy back about 10 of the cars and let their people really tear down the motors and go part by part to locate the part or group of parts, or some of the engineering design that is causing this issue.

I have the utmost confidence they'll get it sorted out and I'm hoping that they get it sorted out before it hits my car. Hang in there and keep the faith. It's still a great car regardless.

Just going based off the limited, non-scientific sample provided by members of this board. There could be others we don't know about, and the problem can be limited to only certain VIN#s within that spread. There are just a lot of unknown variables at this point.

anyone have the TSB they can post?

This is the Subaru TSB: http://qfpost.com/file/d?g=Mi834xKcn

It kinda makes me wonder why Scion doesn't have one yet, but I guess Subaru may be more familiar with the internals? Obviously there are enough cases for Subaru to make the TSB, so it could just be a matter of time before Scion does.

Scion has a TSB for this as well. It was posted in one of the CEL threads at some point.

Would someone mind posting a link to that Scion TSB? I did a search but couldn't find it. Thanks.

I was hoping to get my car back today since they were able to swap out the cam unit already...... Nope, they're waiting on a new fuel line that's supposed to come in early next week. A fuel line, bro... wtf?

alrashwa 08-30-2012 02:10 PM

Did they show you the fuel line? I kinda feel like they are stalling me out. Yesterday the status update was "Our corporate computers are down, so we can't lookup part availability." Makes me wonder...

eurospeed, update on my repair progress. It was repaired, tested, and failed again. Still in shop, and most likely delayed until late September.

Sorry if you've already mentioned, but what did they replace?

I might have to consider postponing my BRZ purchase due to these problems.

whtchocla7e 08-31-2012 08:21 PM

So, today I went to inquire on the status of my repair.
I overheard the people in the back mention that ETA on the parts is 9/17.

Tomorrow, I'm going back there and I plan to walk out with:
1) a check for the amount equal to my downpayment
2) loan voided and my credit report cleaned up
3) a pro-rated refund for insurance

Will I buy this car again in the future? Hmm...Maybe.
