Cannot run Zero Point Calibration after swapping Steering Control Modules

I just upgraded from my 2014 FRS’s steering control module to a 2017 BRZ one because I know people do the swap for better steering feel. I am trying to calibrate the new module, but the calibration won’t run with the dtc c1525 (Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete). My scan tool says that I need to clear the codes and then re-run which does not work, c1525 come right back after clearing. According to the repair manual, the calibration for those systems happen in the same process so not being able to run it gets me nowhere.

Anyone have any advice on either getting the code to stay off or initialize the rotation angle sensor?

*SOLVED*
I had to clear the Assist Map before attempting to zero point calibration. Probably wouldn't be an issue on a brand new EPS module, but coming out of a car the assist map must be cleared.

As for anyone curious on the difference in feel/performance after upgrading from my 2014 to a 2017 brz steering control module - it is definitely a noticeable difference and in a great way. A little bit lighter steering, FAR more responsive, less dead zone, and much more feedback. Probably some of the best $40 bucks I've spent on the car (bought used module on ebay - any part number that is 2017+ from 86 or BRZ works). Overall it just feels much more refined and snappy.
