How to Identify if Engine is The Original to the Car/Chassis
Recently purchased another 2013 FR-S, and I'm trying to determine if it is the original engine that the car was manufactured/delivered with.
The VIN of the car does not have any numbers that correspond to the ID numbers on the engine cases. I check our other car that I believe does have the Original engine,.......and the numbers don't have any simalarity to its VIN. Is there a difinative way to determine if an engine is an original unit? Possibly a production date that would at least give a "ball park" of whether or not it could/could not be the original engine? |
Unfortunately, no VIN stamp on the block.the only way to know for sure what the year range is, would be something like the coil pack harness (indicating 2015 and newer) and if a manual car, 2017+ has the red intake manifold.
Honestly the easiest way to tell is seeing if the engine mounts, subframe, or other things are scuffed up from a hasty swap |
