Electric 86

I've no idea where this topic truly belongs, but my hope for a motoring future just went through the roof. This has been done so well.

I like everything but the fake noise. I know folks want it, but it's just not my thing.

I don't buy electrification as an inevitable mandate. Not in my lifetime anyway. These projects are becoming answers to retracted questions imo. I wish they would ditch the fake noise too.

Make you own motor noise. It's easy.

I've never really thought the mandate would stick, but I'm happy the EV is a viable option, along the lines of diesel. Having lived with an EV for 18 months as my primary vehicle, including multiple trips of 500 to 1500 miles, there really are benefits to them.

I would love to have an EV for several of the weekdays commute.

And then burn dinosaurs on Friday - Sunday :burnrubber:

An Equinox or the upcoming Bolt revival (starting at under $30,000) would be perfect for this scenario.

Can't blame him. The Volt was one of the last nice sedans Chevrolet built. They should have carried it and the range extending drive train forward.

We looked at the Bolt quite a bit over the summer. Fantastic driving around town car. But the seats just don't work. They made them (and the whole car really) like 2 inches too narrow. I'd say it's a great car with a few fatal flaws. Wound up with a '21 Kona electric instead.

Haven't seen exact specs yet but the 2027 model is said to have wider cabin width due to the use of the Ultium battery requiring a wider stance.

I'm a big hater of unnecessary fake noise (any review of an unmodified GR86 just makes me wince when the in cabin noise comes on), but i don't think there's much alternative for something like this car which has an actual gearbox. How else would you know when to shift?

Use the tach, assuming there is one?
