2025 SCCA Solo Nationals Class Difficulty

1 Attachment(s)
For those of us that were in the group of people a fraction of a second out of the last trophy spot (or more) this past week in Lincoln Nebraska this might make us feel slightly better.

Shown below is the difficulty for all the open classes to finish in the trophies (NOT win the class) based on PAX finishing positions. This is not a perfect list with this year the Tues / Weds folks got a little rain, temps were low for 1st run heats most days, life is not fair, classes have different participation numbers, blah blah blah.

For anyone who ran SSC it looks to have gotten a little less difficult compared to last year, while DST got slightly harder and DS slightly easier as well.

2024 _____ 2025
SSC 178 __ SSC 389
DST 132 __ DST 103
DS 310 ____ DS 341

It doesn't make me feel better lol.

It's the best I could do.

Thanks

To be honest it originally started as a selfish interest, I got back from Nationals thinking "how did all of these locals I usually beat by a mile in PAX get a trophy and I wasn't even close? When I get to Lincoln do I just become a complete idiot?" Then after running the numbers and finding out STX (Now DST) is just one of the hardest classes I didn't feel so bad and thought I can't be the only one who feels this way, I should post this.
It is just a tough class, it sometimes hurts to say it although I would rather be in a tough class than get participation trophy in a half prepped weak class. I'm glad we all keep showing up in big numbers to see who can find the time out there.

I drove like shite this year. Lincoln is higher speed and more grip than anything we have here locally, never trusted the grip, and underdrove the whole weekend. It is what it is. It's still a good week despite that, and I never regret going out there. Although the 1300 mile drive back was rather painful.

Won't make nationals next year, as I'll be in Austria in September, but already plan on doing some time at the Red Bull Ring to make up for it.

Thanks for posting. DST is dumb.

A full 5 of us wrung everything out of the car day 2 and were on the same tenth at 53.9x. That's just silly. Wish I hadn't screwed up one turn day 1.

I was trending toward 53.9/54.0 on 2nd and 3rd runs of day 2, but I made sure to throw it away at the tight right hand into the finish section each time.
I like hard classes, but I'm not good enough to consistently be near the top these days I guess. You folks are all awesome to hang with though :P
